Default TLC712 ~ Cloudy Halloween Sky ~ (10/15/18)

Hi Guys,

Today it's my turn to challenge you and I have a simple little technique I found quite by accident (I just love happy accidents - don't you?)

Halloween is just around the corner so this technique, to create a cloudy, spooky Halloween sky, seems like perfect timing! The artist explains the technique well and her example is super fun. I want to give her credit so to see the technique, click below:

I hope you are feeling inspired to join in the challenge!

Fun technique - quite a bit like watercolor lifting - I almost trashed this piece as it really wasn't the look I was hoping for but once I laid on my die cut, that seemed to pull it all together so here is mine:

Well, that was fun. My first attempt didn't turn out so well but I'm sure will get used. I'll be along tomorrow morning with a photo and upload using the second piece.

I have no distress oxide inks, is there anything by Stampin Up that will give same effect?

Do you have regular distress inks? I think they ought to work, since they too are water-reactive. If not, I imagine that using SU inks to blend the background, and then a little bleach instead of water to paint the clouds with should work as the bleach would have a similar effect. I haven't tried it, but I was thinking about it when making my card.

Don't think any are distress inks, bleach makes sense

Great video tutorial

I would think you could still do it with your other water based inks - it may not be exactly the same but it will still be cute! You are essentially just removing some of the ink with water. Try it out - it is always fun to experiment!
