Default TLC665 ~ Crayon Rubbed Embossing ~ 11/20/17

Hello Technique Lovers!

First of all, thank you to everyone that played in the Pencil Monochrome Challenge! I loved seeing all of the different images and colors used. Definitely a technique I will be using again!

Today's technique is not "new" per se, but it has never been featured (as far as I could find) as a TLC. So today we are going to bring back some childhood memories for some of you with CRAYON RUBBED EMBOSSING.

Lydia has a wonderful tutorial HERE, that also has some variations.
Just keep in mind, that you aren't embossing with a machine - your finished panel will be smooth and flat. The results that you get will be a little more artsy and not as "clear and clean" as some may like. But I had fun doing this again - I haven't since I had young kids!
And ---- it took me four tries to get one that I liked. The most fun part, I think, is Lydia's Step 6, when you use a cloth to brighten the design. It just starts popping out!

I made two different samples using the same ink.
The first is with a Sizzix folder - and it's my more "artsy" card. The folder was a bird with a branch, and some plants.
The second is with a familiar Cuttlebug folder with the all over design.

CRAYON THANKFUL

I did my housework last night so that I'd have time to play this morning . Thanks, Judy, for highlighting a technique which I have not had much luck with in the past but was happy with the results today!

And thank you Susie for the lovely silver cording!

And yes, I remember taking rubbings of the gravestones and memorials in a nearby church for a school project. A LONG time ago!

I already played around a little this morning. I hope I have time this afternoon to complete a card. Oldie but goodie! We did leaf rubbings in September at school using this technique, then watercolored.

Judy @StampingQueenJAR, that is one fun technique. I think I need to dig into my kiddo's crayon jar now and try this technique.

Heart TLC665 cozy winter

what a wonderful technique! I dug out my never used brayer, and set to work. Used a silver crayon as my white one is missing. Went with an intricate snowflake-like pattern for my crayon resist rows, and added a dry embossed cable knit upper horizontal border, along with 2 patterned borders for my middle and lower ones. Used a cute otter I just bought at my local stamp store. Here's cozy winter

I cannot wait to get home from work so I can try this technique. It looks so much fun and I have a lot of embossing folders that haven't been used in a while.

Default TLC665

I had to give this challenge a go- I made a card and an ATC. I used the same colors on both- I think the pop of white on the ATC really makes the blue look much richer....

I have tried this before using a different method, but really liked that this worked so well with the intricate pattern of the EF.

The ATC and the CARD links.

Thanks for a fun challenge!
