Default TLC607 ~ Heated Copper Accents ~ {10/10/16}

Happy TLC Challenge Day!
Today's challenge uses a technique from the SCS Tutorials section called
HEATED COPPER ACCENTS
by the incomparable Loll Thompson!

Her tutorial is so easy to follow and there is a video as well as still photos -- and a variation,
which is what I did on my sample:

TLC607 Gallery Submissions

Please also upload to the Heated Copper Accents Gallery.

To link to the HCA Gallery:
Choose Technique Spotlight
Choose Heated Copper Accents

Keyword: TLC607

If you don't have copper metal, or anything to heat with, you are welcome to substitute for the same look so you can play along! Just please describe your technique to get the faux look.

What do you know, I found my copper quite quickly! So I didn't get much housework done before leaving for work but I do have a card ready to assemble and upload when I get home. I think my copper must be thinner than Loll's because it's thin enough to punch, so maybe that's why I didn't get as good colour.

I didn't get the same depth of color either -- thought it might be my heat source. But I like this look and will definitely try again!

Here it is! Our one and only craft show is coming up in a couple of weeks, so I will see if I can get thicker copper sheets there. It was fun to try this again. I tried it some years ago when I only had a heat gun - but I got a blow-torch for the kitchen a couple of years back , great for searing red bell peppers. Thanks, Judy.

p.s - love your new avatar. And I wish I could put my card in the Technique gallery, but I switched out the paper I'd picked this morning so that I could combine it with Lydia's FF challenge yesterday.

I don't have Copper sheeting - I don't own a blow torch - but I wanted to play along so here is what I did to achieve (hopefully) a FAUX heated Copper Accent look . . . See card description for how I made my "copper" piece.

Looks cool! I just made a little visit to Amazon to order the supplies to try this. I'll have to get back to this challenge when my stuff arrives.

Had to try this cool technique! Had to use heat embossing tool so not overly impressed with my results. I want to try again & use something else to heat my copper! Here is my card:

Have you ladies tried your local hardware store for copper sheeting....some have used the copper sticky tape used for repairing leaks in pipes on cards. Lisa from 'I'm in Heaven' just did a post where she used a grill lighter on the copper, but she did say not to hold it too close or you will burn it.
