Default TLC289 ~ All The Worlds A Stage ~ (09/06/10)

Hi Friends!

Happy Labor Day! I learned something new as I was researching Labor Day for this post. I did not know that our Canadian friends celebrate Labor Day, too! Labor Day was first celebrated in Oregon in 1887. Canada actually adopted Labor Day about 6 weeks before the rest of the United States! (source: Labor Day )

~ Pop Up Stage Cards ~

When I came across THIS card by Kim Score (needmorestamps), I knew it had to be featured in the Technique Lovers Challenge. The Pop Up Stage card is really quite simple. You can make it simple or as detailed as you like. You can find the tutorial on Kims Blog, Paper Punch Addiction.

Here is my sample:

~ Back to School ~ Outside

~ Back to School ~ Inside

Remember when uploading to use the KEYWORD TLC289 (no spaces)

You can view the entire TLC289 gallery HERE.

Cant wait to see what pops up in the gallery

What a fun technique! So glad I have the day off for the holiday. I suppose the only difference is how we spell Labor/Labour Day ;)

Hope my headache leaves me tomorrow and I can stamp!
Great sample Holly!

After all the time I spent waiting for the Stickles to dry, I am uploading this even though I'm not too happy with it.

I've got one.
I just took a picture of the inside of it though. I hope that is OK.

Bewitched

I forgot how long these kinds of cards can take to make them, but I sure love the look of them! Will worth the time.

Thanks for the fun challenge!

I had a little time left in my day...took me a while to decide which stamps to use. Here's my card.

Thanks for letting me share.

Default Help, my pop-up stage card won't close

I love this technique, but I'm having a bit of trouble. I constructed the card all the way to the point of inserting the tabs into the slits and sticking them to the bottom of the card base. After inserting the tabs, I was still able to fold the card flat. However, once I put my figures onto the tabs, my card won't fold flat anymore. As the card gets folded, the stage moves forward, with the slits sliding "up" the tabs. When the slits hit the bottom of the glued-on figures, everything stops and I can't fold the card any further. What am I doing wrong? Should I be able to still fold the card flat after my figures are attached to the tabs? Or is this not supposed to be a foldable card after it's decorated? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you should be able to fold it flat. Could be that you pushed your figure down a little too far on the tab. Make sure that you mount the figures on the tab flush with the stage. If you use cardstock that isn't very sturdy, it tends to bow a little in the center. Then, when you go to stick your figures on, you are sticking them on less than 1/2" from the base of the card, so it sticks or drags on the stage when you try to close it.
