Question Hope You Can Help Me With This

Good Morning! These cards are beautiful! I need some help with what things are, though. What is acetate? Where do you purchase it? Is it the same as vellum? It doesn't look like it, but thought I would ask anyhow. This is a neat challenge! I just need to know where to find the acetate and what exactly it is. Thanks in advance for the help!

Acetate is also known as transparencies, and can be found at any office supply store...but I bet if you look around your house, you may be able to find a suitable piece of it. It's used in packaging of many common items. I hope that helps a little.

I didn't want to use flowers like I saw in the challenge, but I ended up using three different sets...the limb from Papertrey's Out on a Limb, the bird from Natural Beauty and the quote from Happy Harmony. Whew. Here it is: Little Birdie

Wow! What a fun technique! At first I really wanted to just use my alcohol inks and skip the CE but I held true... I only have a few reinkers so they dictated my image selection and if I had it to do again, I'd choose images with larger spaces rather than the tiny borders in Time Well Spent flowers, but that said, I am happy with how this came out!

Thanks for looking. Here's my card:

Just a tip- I save the acetate sheets that all my clear stamps come on. I store the sets in CD cases, so I use the acetate sheets to use in projects.

In response to several who don't have any crystal effects on hand, I thought I'd let you know that you can do this technique with future floor wax. Hope that helps some of you!

I've not used sharpies with Crystal Effect, so I don't know if there would be any sort of color changes due to chemical reactions...give it a go, and see how it turns out! Can't wait to see.

I haven't used the floor wax yet...does it give the same raised dimension as crystal effects? (inquiring minds want to know)

Lynn, I am glad that you are hostessing this challenge. This was a fun challenge. And by CHALLENGE, it was very challenging. Mostly because of lack of supplies. I did a lot of substituting. I love how it turned out. I had a hard time photographing my card. I either got a glare, or the colors were distorted. So I posted two different views.

The first one I did looked right, but was put together wrong. I needed to find out if I could do it the right way, so here is the correct technique!

Well all I know is it takes a lot longer than 2 HOURS to dry. I did mine, loved it, let it sit for 2 hours. It appeared dry, so I tried assembling my card and then when I was pressing down the adhesive on the sides of the card, the crystal effects/ink stuck to the inside of the card, some pulled off the acetate, and smudges were left on the card inside. So I re-did it, and now I'm not touching it again till tomorrow morning! I'll upload it then too. I love the way it looks though and the technique other than the 'waiting period' is easy and fun. I plan to do more of these cards in the future when I have more reinkers. I don't know how you ladies are getting your cards dry and posted so fast. Mine is kinda thick cause I wanted a nice, rich color. Maybe thats why. See you tomorrow.

Here's mine.
It's raining here, so not a good photo - if I can get a better one tomorrow I'll update it. I enjoyed doing this - even if I had to subsitute alcohol inks for re-inkers.
I have two more stamped images so I'll be back with more.
Thank you, Lynn.

Patience is not one of my strong suits either.

Dry time depends on your local weather...dry or humid, etc. Also a greater surface area will require more dry time than a small spot on a flower. You could place it by a fan, just as long as you don't let it go flying off (weight a non-stamped part down with something) otherwise you might be peeling if off one of your walls.

Next time I'll use a stamp set that isn't so detailed and work my way up from there. This is definitely nothing fancy or detailed or exhibits any real skill, unlike what I've seen the rest of you upload today.
