Default TLC138 - Treat Sliders

Many, many thanks to Mama Kim for filling in for me last week! :-D

This week, we will be making popcorn sliders. These are little sleeves that fit around a bag of unpopped microwave popcorn. You pull up on the ribbon, and out pops the popcorn!
If you like, you can substitute a candy bar or other flat candy. Simply adjust the sleeve to fit your candy.

Here is my example
TLC138 - Halloween Mini Popcorn Treats by showmestamper at Splitcoaststampers

To see all the fun sliders for this TLC:

TLC138 Creations

Please use the keyword TLC138.

Here's how to do it:

Start with 6 3/4" by 10" piece of cardstock. This will be the part that wraps around the bag of popcorn still in the plastic. Check for fit...I don't know if popcorn bags are "standard"...this is what I used. Stamp as desired. Wrap the cardstock around the popcorn and adhere the overlapping edges so that the fit is snug, but not super tight.

Using a 1/4" square punch, punch a hole in the top center of wrapper about 3/4" down from the edge and another hole in approximately the same location in the back center of the wrapper. If you do not have a 1/4" square punch, simply punch two holes side by side with the little rectangle punch, creating a hole that is square. Do not make the holes too close to the edge of the sleeve, or it will rip.

Remove the popcorn from the sleeve. Cut a piece of ribbon about 20" long. Fold the ribbon in half, and place the bag of popcorn down against the fold. Hold the ribbons AND the popcorn at the opposite end of the bag from the folded ribbon, and insert the side popcorn bag with the fold of the ribbon into the sleeve. Push it all the way to the end of the sleeve. Thread one ribbon from the inside of the sleeve through the hole to the other side of the sleeve. Repeat with the other side. Tie the ribbons into a knot and trim.

Embellish as desired.

Have fun!

WOW - what a great idea!! I've never seen these before. I may adapt it just a little to fit a big block of chocolate for DH as a special "I don't really have a reason to give this to you, but I love you so I thought I would anyway" gift - you girls know what I mean???? LOL!!!! Great Challenge Beth!!!!

So much fun! And perfect for the "you've been boo'd!" packages that mysteriously end up on doorsteps this time of year! I'll be sure to play later on, after therapy and dropping off my puppy for boarding school... for real!

Ooo, fun. I've only done this with a card insert. I'm thinking there's probably a way to add a pocket inside for a gift card so it won't fall out the bottom. I'll have to see what I can come up with. Thanks, Beth.

To put the ribbon in, you could also just thread it through both of the holes while the slider is still empty, and then use the popcorn (or whatever the insert is) to squish the ribbon down into the bottom of the slider. You can then pull on one side or the other to even out the ends of the ribbon, and tie your bow and you're done. I've made a couple of cards like this rather than using popcorn or chocolate for the slider part.
