Default Would you buy a sizzix die to make your own tags?

Hi!

I have recently become interested in all the cool projects made with tags. This probably isn't anything new, but it is new to me.

I thought about just buying some pre-made tags, BUT I live in the boonies, and I can't find those shipping / inventory tags anywhere around here. Plus, if I did find them, I was concerned about the paper quality.

So....I am thinking of ordering the Bigz Tag#3 die that I currently found on sale for 11.99....what do you think? Does anyone have this? This way, with this die--looks like it makes 2 different shaped tags--then I can decide what paper I want to use too!

Sound good???

did you check sizziz.com ? They have great sales, clearance items and an outlet. My only issue with them is they will sometimes lower a price on something and then next thing you know, they jack the price right back up. Shipping can be kinda high too, depending on the amount you buy and if it is a heavy item, but it sure is worth a look.

I think in the long run it will be far cheaper for you to make your own tags plus you get to decide the material and patterns. Sounds like a good investment but I do agree that you might want to check around for the best deals. Sometimes just googling the item brings up more choices.

That particular die is a Tuesday teaser at sizzix.com Only available until the end of the day. I would buy that and then you can always make your own. Not sure what the shipping is but worth a look.

I have two different tag sets from Sizzix that I bought years ago and I use them all the time. Keep in mind tags can be any shape or size. I make tags using my Spellbinders a lot. Also you can cut a tag then clip off the two corners at the top for a tag shape. Have fun and experiment.

Have you checked out Red Castle software?
ShareWare and FreeWare by Red Castle, Inc.

They have a "tag" software program that lets you print tags in different shapes and sized from your printer. The cost is a $10 license fee. I've used this for years and found it a wonderful tool.
They also have a free program that allows you to make your own postal's - you can print out a sheet of postal outlines in whatever size you need.

Just keep in mind the size of image the die cuts. If you're looking for a shipping tag like the ones Tim Holtz uses, you'll be completely disappointed with this die. If you're looking for much smaller tags, the die is perfect.

I actually did buy a die, but then discovered I had several different styles on SEVERAL cricut carts! I am now checking my carts BEFORE I buy any dies!

I buy myne form staples a pack of 100 for like $5 I would say, but do use my cricut a lot for tags as well, if I have to do a good amount for a special event.

I have a Sizzix die that has 3 different size tags on it. It's great for cutting whatever you want whenever you want... I've had it for years...

I don't have that particular die but I've found in my experience with dies that if it is something you plan to make in multiples and there's a similar punch available then go for the punch. If there's no punch, well then there's no option

Martha 100 for $5 sounds like an awesome price! Plus it saves you all the trouble of cutting the tags!

Have any of you pre ordered the new die to make the tim holtz #8 tags? I've been making tags for years & just snipped the edges off, but I think the die will get a bunch of use. It's kind of a no-brainer. You don't have to measure anything. I have it on pre-order & am anxious to get it. JIL
