Default Whisper White CS cracks when embossing

I imagine this has been brought up before, but has anybody figured out what to do with SU embossing folders, like Elegant line, to keep paper from cracking?

My whisper white does not crack at all. Is it possible your shins are too thick?

Mine cracks also and I just run it thru the big shot like I do any other embossing folder, so I cannot be much help to you. I this this happens because it is a deeply etched embossing folder. Try putting some scotch tape where it cracks & see if this helps.

I had this problem when I was trying to use a brass stencil to emboss using my Wizard. Jerri Kay told me to put a piece of thin paper towel over the embossing plate and the cardstock on top of that before I ran it through the machine. It worked.

I have since put a piece of tissue paper on top and under the cardstock in the embossing folder and then run it through the machine. I don't know why, but the tissue paper stops the cracking.
Hope this helps

Wow! I never thought of adding a paper towel or tissue paper to prevent cracking. Thanks for the tip....I will be trying this next time I have this "cracking" issue.

The best thin paper towels are the folded ones in public rest rooms. But so many are going to the rolls of paper to dry our hands . I have not tried those

You might also put a piece of vellum card stock on the underneath the top of the folder, if this makes sense to you.

There are 2 threads about this in the Tools forum. Assorted suggestions are: mist your stock with water or rubbing alcohol, putting a piece of copy paper on top of the paper in the folder, or running the folder through your machine sideways.
