Went to M's today and didn't know what to get. I see so many beautiful cards done with these. I was going to try these with baby oil and see what happens. :p Also, what else do I get to go with them for blending?
I just got 20 pencils today.
Somewhere on here I found a list that had the matching SU colors listed, I got my favorites:
Peach Beige
Kelp Green
Chocolate
Apple Green
Black Grape
Warm Grey 90%
Meditarranian blue
pumpkin orange
Goldenrod
sky blue light
magenta
sand
limepeel
raspberry
non-photo blue
pale sage
blue slate
I will probably get a few more at a later time. I also got some gamsol and blending stumps. I love the way how the coloring turns out.
If you want the water color look, you purchase the water color prismacolor pencils. To do the Magic Colored Pencil look, you purchase the Prismacolor colored pencils, lead based. You will need Gamsol or oderless paintthinner and stumps to achieve that look. There are many threads about this topic. Just do a search and they will have the directions.
I forgot to add they come in different sizes, from 12 to 120 in a box. Of course the price increases significantly the more you get. With the watercolor pencils, I have only seen 12, 24 or 36 in a box.
Sorry to confuse you, but I went and actually looked at mine still in the package so let me make a correction to what I just posted.
The ones made in China are called tortillions and the ones made in Taiwan are called Blending Stumps. I prefer the ones made in Taiwan and can only find them locally at my Hobby Lobby. At Michaels I can find the China ones and they work fine too, just not my absolute fav.
Clear as mud?

The paper you use is important too if you are going to use the baby oil or odorless mineral spirits---not all papers give the right effect. I use Georgia Pacific white cardstock from Walmart or Sams.
