Another thing that causes my spending sprees are the 40% off coupons. At Jo-Ann I can use Michael's coupons. So I get two coupons in the Sunday newspaper, a couple online and one in the mail every week. I can use all of these on one shopping trip. It is really hard to resist going to Jo-Ann's and using these coupons sometimes.

I know some people think that if they don't use a coupon they are wasting money . It is no savings to buy things you really don't need.

I only use the coupons "IF" I need something. It is not a cardinal sin to throw them away unused. Trust me I have thrown away many of them LOL
I shop with a purpose. I walk into the store get what I came to buy and leave.

I don't walk around to see if there is something I don't have. Unless you own a craft store there will always be things you don't have. LOL

It really is nice to know I am not alone in this! I confess I do wander around, but I have become so picky about what I choose to spend my money on that I might wander around the store and leave without buying a single thing! My crafting budget is so tight that I can't afford to go on shopping sprees. I have to know that I really want it and will actually use it enough to make it worth buying. I know, I know, not the answer y'all were looking for, but I'm willing to bet there are more like me than will admit it.

I went to the store to get soda and man a spending spree took over lol about every three months our grocery store changes out a few of their scrapbooking/card making supplies. I just had to have the most adorable glitter flowers, a new pair of scallop scissors, and a new border punch of Adirondacks trees!!!!! So I guess Diet Coke triggers a spending spree!!!!!

a spending spree comes on at any time in my world. Sometimes after a bad week, I just go and buy all kinds of things! If my husband buys himself something for hunting or his truck, I feel justified in buying something for my craft room! As far as the coupons, I hardly use them, because most of the things I buy are already on sale anyway, and why use the coupon for something I really dont need. So there, that said, I just shopped at HSN and got the 24 inch paper and 2 mats for my cricut. I had a bad week...

4 kids (two of them special needs and one that's almost 21 and needs to get her own life) and a tax accountant for a husband. need i say more. dh doesn't mind it too much if i spend a lot on myself as long as the bills are paid and the fridge is stocked.
My next spree is going to revolve around the Big Shot.....

I am so glad that I am not the only. That and I have noticed SCS has helped encourage the shopping spree. I am learning about so many new (to me anyway) companies. Oh and if you get a chance to go to an Heirloom show. I highly recommend it. It was great I learned a lot and shopped a little too.

Ever heard of the book, If You Give a Moose a Muffin?? This thread totally makes me think of that book, in fact the entire series.

Very few things. My mother is a shopping addict. Really. She uses shopping as therapy and is always racking up credit card bills she can't pay. I have a very difficult time convincing myself to buy ANYTHING. I have to think about it long and hard before I buy.

I have been disabled by illness for many years, and I have found that when I am especially sick and haven't left the house for a few weeks, I just itch to puchase things! I think getting the package is like getting a present, lol. And when I get something in my head I can't stop thinking about it until I buy it!

Free shipping is always good too. HSN had free shipping on craft stuff in March, bought more than one thing that month, lol.

I have to be super careful with money tho, so I think things over for a few days before deciding to purchase.

What causes a shopping spree for me? The better question is what DOESN'T cause a shopping spree? LOL. Recently I purchased the Unity Store Kit of the Month with several sewing-themed stamped.....the Janome Sew-Mini was on sale at Hancock Fabrics....so you see where this is going......and I had to of course buy some thread and fancy trims to go with it all........

My therapist tells me that I use shopping as a coping mechanism, which is true. But, I don't drink, don't smoke, don't use drugs, and don't rack up credit card debt, so it's not the worst addiction I could have

I usually go through binges. I'm in the midst of one now. I'll find a new product or technique I want to try and then I'm off! Right now it's Nesties and stamps. And border punches. And embossing folders. yeah....

It's also triggered by those pesky weekend ads! I see something on sale at M's or ACM's and I think "I just have to have that!". Luckily, each of these stores is at least a 20 minute drive away, so I can't be too compulsive.
