I'm making a scrapbook frame for my S. I. L. and I have vellum quotes to put on it. I have used the scotch 3m vellum tape but you can still see the tape through it. Does anybody know of anything else that be used? (I need this done by Sat.!!) I appreciate each and every tip, so with that being said "Thank-you" for your help.
I use Scotch vellum adhesive all the time and it works great for me. I lay a piece of adhesive down on the back side of the vellum piece, sticky side down on the vellum and paper coating side up. Then I rub on the paper coating until the paper completely pulls away from the adhesive. I position my vellum piece where I want it and rub gently. Works like a charm! It could be you have a bad roll of adhesive. But hopefully others will have some ideas, too. I know there are other brands of vellum adhesive on the market but I haven't tried them. Best of luck on your project!!
I used the Xyron runner (without the actual holder, just the refill) for 60 wedding invitations that I made that had a vellum element to them. It was the only thing I could find that didn't show the adhesive...
Yes, I would suggest either a spray adhesive or using the Xyron adhesives (just brake apart the cartridge so you can use just the roll of adhesive and the covering plastic roll - that's what I do). You can also use an embellishment to hide the adhesive or use brads instead of adhesive.
Like others suggested, if you do not have the Xyron machine you can still use the adhesive off the cartridge. The trick to vellum is to make sure you have an even sheet of adhesive on the back - not little bits of adhesive in the corners. Spray adhesive or Xyron adhesive works the best because it is applying even adhesive to the entire piece. I run through my Xyron, lay on my project, then use my brayer to rub down evenly. Works great every single time.
