Default UltraClean stamp cleaner removes Sharpie ink!!

Well, my 5 year old son decided to draw me the most adorable picture on my linoleum floor, with a black SHARPIE marker !!!!!! I tried a couple of different things to try and lighten it, because i know sharpie markers do not come off!!!! Well, nothing worked. And then, i remembered that i use Ultraclean to remove my perm. Black inks, so why wouldn't it work on this. I gave it a couple of sprays, and the ink started to dissove and I wiped it right away!! No sign of it at all!!

A couple of days later, I found green dry erase marker on my white banister, and figured, hmmm... why not, and it took that off too!!! It did dull the paint, but it beats having bright green marker on my white banister, in my opinion!

I guess I'll need to order some more Ultraclean!! And buy them some Washable Crayola markers!!!!!

LOL...LOL Glad you were able to get that stuff off... I had bought a few items at my LSS that I was going to put in a basket for a gift, the prices were all marked with a sharpie and the gal told be to just use some rubbing alcohol and it (the price) would come right off, which it did... so if your in a pinch... the rubbing alcohol might work too...

I have used a Mr. Clean eraser on wood furniture to remove marker marks. It
may lighten it a little bit then go over with Old English.

Staz on cleaner also works. My son drew all over our computer monitor with a black sharpie and it came right off with the staz on cleaner.

I know that Goo Gone can take it off the SU plastic cases.

Ok this doesn't have anything to do with stamping but definately Sharpies. When my youngest were 3 and 9mths, the 3 yr old came down stairs with Purple sharpie on his hands so I expected to go upstairs and find sharpie everywhere well I was somewhat right. At the top of the stairs sat my 9mth old smiling and laughing as happy as can be with PURPLE Sharpie covering his FACE, cheeks, nose, chin even his eyelids! I instantly started to cry because I knew I would not be able to use any of the usual things to get it off. I called one of my friends and she did a computer search...WHOLE MILK???? Well I tried it (after taking pictures for the scrapbook of course) and sure enough it worked! Sorry to hijack but thought you would all get a chuckle out of it! ;)

P.S. I Love Love Love Ultraclean stamp cleaner I use it on everything!

I've heard coffee will remove permanent marker as well. Something to do with the acid in the coffee breaking down the ink. Now just think of what that coffee is doing to your stomach...

That is extremely good information. My son used to love to draw all over my daughter. He also enjoyed powdering her from head to toe. These things make great scrapbook pages but are quite frightening to clean up.

My son once sprayed a bottle of lysol all over the TV...I was wishing it had only been a sharpie.

There is a children's book by Robert Munsch I am pretty sure it is called "purple green and yellow" about a little girl who markered things that were not sposed to be markered and what happens..
he wrote a lot of good books One dollar and ninety eight cents
and "love you forever" (but bring tissues)

Crayola says that the washable markers come off "most " fabrics and red is the most resistant to removal. Duh!

I use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball to remove sharpie marker from non-porous surfaces.
I'm a little surprised no one else has mentioned this yet. I thought I was the last to hear about it.

I believe it is by Stewart Superior. You can get it at Papertrey Ink (http://www.papertreyink.com) and also from The Angel Company. I love this cleaner!

I did find that it would not remove the Martha Stewart permanent marker. :( I was writing the names of my Cricut cartridges across their tops and thought I'd try this marker - too thick. Drat. The Ultra Clean almost worked, but not very well. Oh well. (I tried the Mr. Clean sponge too.) At least I know it is a very permanent marker should I need one. ;)

When my best friend's little girl Sharpied my parent's diningroom wall and table, we used fingernail polish remover and it worked. I would be careful on any surface that can be dulled, because the finish on my parent's table was affected a bit by the remover. But, desperate times called for desperate measures!

Alcohol also removes sharpie from things like plastics and does not degrade the material. I cannot say if it works on porous surfaces or not. I use the little pads that come in the single serve packs like the doctors use before they give you the shot. I use them to clean adhesive off scissors and one day tries it to see if it would remove the sharpie mark on a case of stamps and it did. Very low cost and they don't dry out when you have them individually wrapped and you can take them anywhere with you easily.

Love the kid stories!

Rubbing alchohol will take ink out of fabric too! Just put it on a cotton ball, and put a dry cotton ball on the back side of the fabric. Now, blot, don't rub, and keep blotting. The ink will come out. It can be a little time consuming, but I take black sharpie out of white shirts all the time! Or blue ball point pen, etc. you get the idea! Hope this helps somebody!

Also, hairspray works, the cheaper the better. y son is 15 now (with a driving permit :0) But at three he signed his name on his bedroom door in black sharpie! He was so proud! We were told Hairspray, and it worked!

Oh you have to love the Sharpies...my kids have colored doors, banisters, walls, themselves, computer monitors. Rubbing alcohol and Mr. Clean erasers have been my saving grace...but I'm going to try the hairspray on the varnished door she colored dark brown. Nothing has taken it off there yet!

OH my goodness...I am so glad that the Ultraclean was able to bet the sharpie/dry erase off of your floor and bannister...seems like an investment in Duct tape for the creative little person might be in order......I hope you know I am kidding..but I would find all the markers and lock them up when the creative youngster is afoot...blessings.
