Default Tim Holtz Sidekick

Oh.....I'm in love with my little brown baby! When it first came out, I thought I'd never want it. I watched Tim's review....sold. It's been at my side at my crafting table for a couple weeks now. LOVE IT. I have the Vagabond I and a Vintaj machine. It's surprising how many small dies I use. Very handy to not to get up so frequently with my old knees...lol. If you're on the fence....jump!

I have the original sidekick with tons of dies. I'm leery of buying the new one because my space is limited. It would be quite handy, though, perhaps I'll put it on my wish list.

I love the idea of the Sidekick, too, for small dies and word dies. I also have the original one, which I used with the small plastic backed square and rectangle Sizzix dies that were out at the time. I pulled it out again, but I'm having a problem with thin metal dies with my original plates. I've tried several combinations of cardstock and chipboard shims, but seem to end up with either too much or too little pressure. Are the new machines or the new plates different, or am I missing something else? Will appreciate any ideas before I invest in a new Sidekick or plates. Thanks!

I bought the mini sidekick and the cutting pads are thicker and aqua. It is small and cuts little dies nicely. Happy that I purchased it.

Thanks for the info, that's one of the things I was wondering. Will start with a new set of plates. Appreciate it!

Does anyone know if the new cutting plates will work with the old Sidekick?

I gave in and bought a set of the new plates to try out with the original sidekick. They work. I'm super excited.
