Default Tim Holtz ruler holes v Stampin' Up! matt pack

Is there anybody who has both the Tim Holtz ruler and the SU! matt pack that could tell me if the holes in both are the same distance apart.

Also does the SU! paper piercer fit through the holes in the Tim Holtz ruler holes.

Thanks.

Hi Jayne...I did a test with my SU template, and the Tim Holtz ruler. I found that the SU piercer was larger in diameter, so it didn't work as well in the TH ruler. (My Making Memories piercer worked much better).

The spacing in the ruler is the 1/8, 1/4 inch spacing.

HTH!

I have the Tim Holtz design ruler and am not that happy with it. I bought it for the row of piercing lines but I find it very hard to keep the ruler straight as it seems to want to slip around. I put some tape on the back to make it a bit less slippy but I still have to be very careful with it. It is however nice that it is clear and you can see to line up the corners of rows of piercing.

i have also found that the black ink or whatever is used to draw the lines on the bottom of the ruler comes off on your nice, clean, crisp white cards!!!! i find it slips too...

A little "off topic" but can anyone tell me where they found the Tim Holtz ruler?

I have the Tim Holtz ruler and I LOVE it. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I got mine at https://www.creativeplaystamps.com/contents/show/1 ($6.99). Sorry to hear people are not that happy with it. I haven't used mine yet.

I bought my ruler at Ellen's store here. I love my ruler, by the way...I just don't use it for piercing.

Thanks so much! I actually just bought one as I had wanted one for awhile but I had previously been frustrated as everyone was out of stock. It is on its way

Michelle Zindorf uses a push pin with the Tim Holtz ruler. I purchased mine from Eclectic Paperie. I haven't used it for piercing yet.

I use the SU! Mat Pack, but wanted something larger as well.

I was wondering about the Tim Hotz ruler also, as where to obtain one.
If it slips try the sandpaper dots. I use them on my quilting rulers and they work great.
All of you are so good about sharing knowlegde Thank you. I get lots of tips from all of you.

I got mine at Allthatscraps.com. They offer $2 shipping. Can't beat that. Customer service is awesome.

I, too, had this problem. I now use an old mouse pad flipped picture side down when piercing. The pad is longer than the card (usually) and the rubbery part keeps my ruler form slipping. It works great and I don't have to stop and shift the ruler or the pad underneath.

I agree wholeheartedly that the making memories piercer is the best. I use a piercing pad that sits in my scor-pal made from sheets of fun foam (4 layers thick cut to measure 12x12.) It is wonderful beyond belief. To keep the tim holtz ruler in place. I just put a couple of pins. No slipping! The best thing is that you can get black & white fun foam (using 2 pieces of each to make the pad) so that you can always see the edge of your cardstock clearly & work easily. It's my favourite set of tools ever! ) I haven't used my SU piercer since I got the ruler. One CON to the T.H. design ruler though is that is isn't all that great for cutting (Despite the metal edge, it takes nicks easily (the metal is too deeply set to be effective I find.) and then it's not good for drawing anymore) But I love it so much that I have 2: one for cutting & one for drawing. Happy piercing!

I have seen the Tim Holtz ruler in our Michael's store near Baltimore.

Another option for piercing is plastic needlepoint canvas; the holes are larger than in the TH ruler, so your pierced holes may not be as evenly spaced, but it does come in some fun shapes that would make some piercing patterns easy to achieve.
