Default SUP Tab punch not working

Can someone please help me? I have two Stamping Up Tab punches. The only oneI can find isn’t working properly. When I push the handle down it doesn’t cut entire shape. It only cuts out about 60% of the shape out. Is it possible to fix this issue? If so, can you give me the directions?

Thank you so much!
Laurie

No guarantees, but you can try punching through aluminum foil several times. A thicker aluminum like a soda can could also prove helpful.

Thank you so much! I probably didn't explain the problem very! LOL The metal punch shape isn't going thru the opening. It looks likes it is catching on something. Didn't know if this means the punch is dead or if this is an issue with a fix.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply!

Try putting the punch in the freezer for a while before using it- maybe thirty minutes... It's worked for me before.
Good luck!

Default let us know...

if the freezer thing helps..if it's cutting rough I definitely would try the punch thru thin metal recommendation..but wear heavy duty work gloves!!!

If I understand correctly, the metal piece is catching and not allowing it to move through the punch bottom. Maybe try twisting it a bit. You can't hurt it since it already isn't punching. It sounds like its not aligning up so I'd twist it back and forth and see if it might slide into position.

And the freezer thing is exactly for when it doesn't line up, if it's just catching by a bit. The cold makes the metal contract, and is often just enough to make it slide through again. I promise, I'm not making it up

Lori, I was referring to those who said to try to punch aluminum foil or cans. If it doesn't line up, it probably won't punch those. I've heard of the freezer technique, but never tried it. Some people went as far as to throw the punch on the floor, but I think that was when it was stuck shut! LOL

Ahhhhh, gotcha. I agree, that probably won't work. The throwing on the floor trick, on the other hand...
