I've heard yes. Even the BigzXL dies. But the Bigz XL plates don't fit. So quite a few people have been just using two of the CB "B" plates end to end, top and bottom to make it long enough.
But I've never tried it for myself.

The bed for the CB is too narrow for some of the larger wider dies, but work perfectly with the BS since they were made specifically for it.

SU! dies
I just got the button die in yesterday and it worked perfectly in my Bug! It seems to be the same thickness as the CB dies, but it is black. Worked like a charm! I have never put a button on a card before, but I made a couple last night and used the buttons on them both. They are so cute! I even like the fact that you can tell that they are not really buttons because I never really liked real buttons on a card, but I am completely taken with the idea of PAPER buttons on my cards and labels! Go figure! You gotta get the die! ( you can thank me later!)

Unfortunately, this is incorrect information. Sizzix advertises their dies as being "6 inches", which would be too big for the cuttlebug... but in reality, the dies are actually smaller than the 6 inches. Both the Bigz and XL dies, plus any of the smaller dies will work in your cuttlebug. No need to buy a new machine!!! See my blog HERE for details.

Thanks for the 2 B plate idea Amy.
I was just thinking that maybe the long Sizzix plates could be trimmed to the Bug width if you had the right tools. I am off to talk with the tool guys. LOL!

I just used the Top Note (a BigZ) die in the CB last night and it worked great!
I even cut 2 pieces of CS at a time without problem.

I was told at the last Stamp Camp I attended the the die's that go with the Big Shot from SU will not work with any other product, but that any other product dies will work with the Big Shot.

It sounds suspiciously like someone was trying to sell you a Big Shot. The dies can be used in other machines like the Cuttlebug and the Wizard and maybe others.
SU will have designs that are exclusive, but the dies are not exclusive to the SU Big Shot.

I agree with Cathy on this one. The dies can absolutely be used in the cuttlebug... all sizes (Bigz, Bigz XL, etc.) I've been doing it for months now!

This is not true. The dies all fit through the CB--I tried it at my last class--however, the extended XL cutting plate is too wide. BUT you can sand off about 1/4 inch along one of the long sides and it fits like a dream. A belt sander works the best but an RO sander will work also. Even a Dremmel. T

What does not fit is the XL cutting pads (they are too wide for the Cuttlebug) needed for the XL dies.
Some people are using 2 Cuttlebug cutting pads on the top and 2 on the bottom. In theory this will work, but you will certainly get a break in your die cut between the 2 Cuttlebug cutting pads. This will effect part of the die cut. For instance, with the large pennant. How it turns out may not matter to you. Yes, it is a matter of personal preference.
I use the XL cutting pads with the XL dies in my BIGkick.

In truth, the 6" wide BS dies are not actually 6" wide, they are a tad less than that. I just used the large scallop circle die and the big notes die in my Cuttlebug and they went through it perfectly. I was nervous that they were a different size than the original red sizzix dies, but they are the same - both work fine in the Bug!

Good to know! I'm thinking of getting the Big Shot, but I'm saving up for it. I could really use that Top Note die though. If it will cut in the Cuttlebug, it could even save me some money.

You all are awesome this info was very much needed. I love my bug and really did not want to invest in another machine. I will be ordering all of the dies a few at a time. I have seen some awesome projects done with these dies. Thanks for setting the record straight.

Substitute XL Cutting Pad
I am going to my local hardware store & have them cut some acrylic for me the length I need. They have cut some for blocks to use with unmouted stamps b4 without a problem. I have tried the 2 B pads end to end- had a problem with the break. I won't be ale to get them made until this weekend. I just hope it will be cheaper than buying the pads from SU. I will let you know how it goes.

Sizzix / Big Shot / Cuttle Bug
My question is the opposite - do all the cuttlebug dies and embossing folders work with the Big Shot? Do we need to do any special layering? I've got both the original Sizzix and the Big Shot, so, would like to avoid having to buy the CB as well. Thanks! Cindy

sizzix in cuttlebug
The only thing that I had to have my DH "adjust" for use in my bug was the extended cutting pads so I could use the pennant and basket dies in my bug. The extended cp were just a smidge too wide to go through. He put one of my B plates on top, marked it and then cut off the excess for me!! Works great!!! I am one happy camper!!! Have fun with your CB's.

casmiles...........In answer to your question....ABSOLUTELY! Anything Cuttlebug will work in the BIGkick, Big Shot and of course the Cuttlebug.
Anything Sizzix will work in the 3 machines also. For the XL dies though, you will need "special adjustments" for the wider cutting pads if using in the Cuttlebug.
As far as the order of layering to go through the machines, read the instruction manual that came with each machine. That will give you the order. Using the Nestabilities, some people have different opinions what's best for running those through the machines for cutting/embossing. I use the method that works best for me, but may not work for others.
I'm sure the dies also work in other die cutting/embossing machines, but I can't vouch for them as I have no experience with those machines.

I went to my local plastics supplier and had them cut me a set of cutting pads. Two pieces cut 6" x 14" x 1/8" work great in the CB with the XL Sizzix dies and cost under $10!! They even "flamed" the edges of the pads so that they are not sharp, but smooth.

Thanks for all of the info - I just wanted to double check - I have the old red manual die cut machine from sizzix, will the new Stampinup dies work in that?
Thanks for any help because I too would rather buy dies than another machine

Yes, the thick dies work in the CB! I just got the pillow box & scallop dies this afternoon. I tried them out with this sandwich: 'B' plate, die, c/s/chipboard/2mm fun foam, 'B' plate. This sandwich goes thru the CB and I ended up with a pillow box/scallop. The dies are slightly rectangular but either side fits in the CB opening. (The wider side is 5 7/8" and the CB opening is 6" wide.) So go ahead and buy these dies if you have a CB. I am waiting for my 'Baskets & Blooms' Bigz XL die. There is a place near me that I'll try to have make an extended 'B' plate like the OP.
