Default Storing Stampin' Spots

Does anyone have a creative way to store their Stampin' Spots? Say, the entire set of them?

I'd like to be able to have all of them in view, but I can't figure out how to do it. Its not like they make those nice wooden racks for them like they do the full size pads. (Do they?)

Target dollar spot, this is a paper holder - maybe 8 1/2 x 11. I have also seen colored ones in their scrap and stamping section.

I have mine in the large SU clamshell boxes (from background stamps). Each box holds 2 sets of spots perfectly. I got this hint from someone here on SCS ages ago-sorry I can't remember who it was.

i have heard this and was going to suggest it too...

but when i saw how nicely all 4 color families would fit in the big one from target and for just $1 i thought WOWZERS!

i don't even have the ink spots but i think i would like to have some of these for storing other things as well.

I use the SU clam shell boxes, too. That Target box is great, though! Is that currently in the $ section, or did you get it a while ago?

I re-organized my spots a few years ago. I keep them in the original cardboard boxes they came in, but I grouped them by color rather than the SU families. I cut a piece of white cardstock to the size of the box top then stamped each color on the cover so I could see right away what the color looked like without having to look at the name. I also wrote the names under the stamped swatches. I keep the spots in the box in the same position as the swatches on the cover so I can quickly grab them without sorting through them. This has worked very well for me.

I keep these boxes in a drawer in my Iris Cart right next to my craft desk.

I have attached photos of the spots. And yes, there are 60 spots here. These include not only the current 48 colors but the old retired ones as well.

I keep mine in the medium clamshell boxes b/c I like to keep them together as a color family but also like to see through the box. I like the big box shown in this thread, that's a neat way to store them. But I wouldn't like having to take the entire collection with me when I only needed one family.

I have that clear box from Target and just tried to put some spots in it, but it wouldn't shut...the spots are a couple centimeters too tall.

Just a tip that doesn't really have to do anything with storage, but anyway ...

Label the bottoms of your spots with the color name. That way, if a bunch of them are dropped and the lids come off, it's not hard to figure out which spot is which shade of green, or which shade of blue, etc.

(Don't ask me how I know... )

Well I don't own any of the Stampin' Spots, but I do own many Palette ink spots.

And I store them in the larger Plastic Clam shells, In fact I use the large Clam shell boxes for storing many things in. Like my Copic Markers, Tombow Markers, 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Cardstock. Swap projects.

Another spot storage question....

Do you store them upside down?

I do store mine upside down in their original boxes...but now I want to go to Target and see about this box. Great suggestion to label the bottom - especially when its stored upside down - it makes it easier to know what color you're picking up...I'll have to label mine this week!! Thanks

My solution was going to be to put magnets on the back of each one and put them on a magnetic board on the wall... but then all the ink would oooze down to the bottom of the felt.

I store my embellishments by color (pink drawer, green drawer, etc..) so I throw my ink spots in with them.

yes they should be stored upside down.

i am interested in the target box for storage in general.

i am thinking about getting the craft spots, i would just store the box upside down so when i went to use them all the labels would be up. KWIM

That's an awesome idea! I would have never thought to store the entire box upside down!

I only cut off one side of the sticker -- leave the other attached as a hinge! Having the lid on there, flipped open, also makes it easier to hold the spots as you ink up a larger area with them.

Thanks for the hint. Am going to Target tomorrow. I also only cut off one side of the label to create a hinge. Never have to worry about mixing up similar colors. If all the colors fit in the box, the clear plastic box can be stored upside down and always easily readable.

I have one of those 3 drawer table top organizers, the kind that fits 8 1/2 x 11 papers, they all lay out nicely in them. I use the other drawers for other inks that I have, and then the couple of full size pads can lay on top still giving room to close the drawer.

I don't have any of the spots but I have the Memento Dew Drops. While the Target box is an awesome idea, I prefer a wooden unit on my desk. I never go to crops or have crops. It's just me, and this works well for me right on my desk. It has four sides, swivels, and I still have 2 1/2 empty sides. Maybe I need to buy the spots since I have extra room. LOL! Anyway, I use this Topper from Stamin Things.

img_9108a.jpg

I actually have 9 Dew Drops across now so it fits more than you see in this older picture. If you want to read more about it, you can look here. It is one of my favorite pieces in my room.

Anyone have any luck finding the large container at Target? Mine had moved on to St. Patrick's Day already.

Thanks for the great ideas, ladies - as always!!!

I keep my stampin spots in the cardboard containers they came in, still by color family, and always wondered if I should be storing the boxes upside down. That makes sense... Thanks for confirming!!

Plus I wanted to say hi to a fellow Penn Stater!!

Well, in my post above, y'all will see that I didn't have any stampin' spots. I think this was a group of enablers because I ordered them. I hope they will arrive today. I will put them in my Stampin' Things Topper Unit and take a picture. I know it will work perfectly. Yeah! Thanks everyone!

Edited to add: I just checked the UPS website, and it is on the truck for delivery today!!! Yeah!! So excited here!

I just bought one of these last week to keep paper and cardstock from being wrinkled or damaged when I take it with me to crop and I RAN to my craft room to try out my spots in it. It seems there must be two sizes because my spots are just a tad too tall to close the box. I bought the clear green (only color choice there was lol) in the stamping area but I will be making a trip back to see if they still have any of the clear and if they are any taller I will definately be getting one for my spots.

Mine are also taller than the box so it did bow when I shut it, but it did snap close

If you're having trouble finding the clear box at Target, they also fit (yes all 48!) inside one of the ScrapOnizers - just take out the insert!

I have a question for all of you who use the stampin' spots because I have been thinking about ordering them. Are you able to use them for all your stamping (i.e. background stamps, wheels, etc).

I store mine in one similar; I store the spots and the cats eyes in the same box because I use them in a similar fashion. I bought mine at a convention.

ok Went back to target yesterday to see if they had any in the dollar spot. They did not, but I did manage to pick up some folding paper storage boxes and a matching clipboard and and and ... lol. Headed back to the scrapbooking area and found four of the clear green boxes on clearance, three were cracked but the fourth came home with me. They had quite a few items on clearance sale so I HAD to get two fiskars heart punches (they layer). I'm still calling it a successful trip. lol

I use mine for all stamps including backgrounds. Don't know about the wheels though, could be done but may take some time to coat. I usually use a full pad for wheels if I don't have the color cartridge I want. I would also suggest you buy the refills for your spots as they can't hold as much ink and if it's colors you use alot of you will need to refill the spots. I can't afford all the colors of full size pads ...yet, so the spots are ideal for starting out with. I picked up many of mine at yard sales. I think others started out with them and built up to the full size pads. When I use the spots I turn the stamp over and ink them that way rather than trying to tap the stamp onto the spot. I actually prefer this method anyway as I can see that I have full coverage without stamping off.
