Cool Silhouette Portrait or something else?

I have been researching for getting a Silhouette Portrait. I currently have a spellbinder that I use for cutting shapes. Its very simple to use, and I have quite a few die sets.

I feel like I am living in the dark ages of scrap booking, and I see all these awesome layouts in the gallery. I just finished my first scrapbook (with the help of We R Memory Keeper Pocket Pages) so I am happy with the way it turned out, but for the future I want a little bit more flexibility.... and I wouldn't mind if it looked cutier without having to buy stickers.

I want to be able to cut out Letters and Numbers.

I am pretty good with a computer, so I don't mind using my laptop at all. I never wanted the cricut because each set was too expensive for me. However, since I am a basic user and my scrapbook took a long time to create, I am wondering this product is too much for me and I should get something else...? or it should work.

I typically use purchased items to make my pages. Like 4x6 single layer cards, and flat stickers. I hand write pretty much everything, so if I don't have stickers its handwritten (like titles), and I don't have the best hand writing.

I'd like to be able to do something like this:

HSN has the the Silhouette Cameo on Flex pay right now. This the 12 inch version and you could do alot with it. I have been waiting on them to be back in stock to get mine, it will be here next week.

Price isnt really a factor for me. I think portrait versus cameo, i only need the portrait size. I typically do 4X6 's with my pocket holders.

I purchased the Silhouette Portrait around last Thanksgiving at a really good price. I never really had a chance to spend time with it for months -- and wondered just a little bit if it would be confusing. I'm computer savvy but sometimes software is just not that intuitive for me.

Well, I decided it was now or never a few weeks ago when I needed some Old English style lettering for a theater prop. It was SO easy to cut out those letters! I already have a lot of free fonts loaded on my laptop and it was SIMPLE to use.

My next project was to try the stamp and cut feature. I learned to create cut files for stamped images and also to cut out prestamped images. Again, it was not difficult. I found a couple of videos on You Tube for this part and they were tremendously helpful, and in the process I found a few blogs for future reference, too.

My next project was to make vinyl wall art also for the theater and I was very happy with that, too.

The Portrait version is small enough that it sits right on top of my scanner/printer when not in use. I highly recommend it! I am not sure I'll ever buy a die again.

I think you will be very happy with it for cutting out text!

Check the Silhouette America website, they have had the Portrait for 129.00 for the package with the designer edition software.
