Shimmer Paint colors
What are your favorite Shimmer Paint colors?
I just found these same exact Tsukineko paints that SU is selling for much cheaper!!!
They are all on sale for $3.76 and many colors -
http://www.softexpressions.com/softw...pInk2.php#ink2
So i am wondering what are you favorite colors. At this price it is so worth it!

I see on the label that they are for use with "Fantastix" which seem to be like a blending stump. I have only used shimmer paints for stamping (daub paint on stamp and then stamp as usual). Has anyone used them for painting with a stump, and how did it turn out?

You can combine the shimmer paint with rubbing alcohol to make a 'shimmer mist'. I've done it with two of the SU! colours - white and champagne - and love the effect. I know have shimmer paper in any colour I want!

i use mine with the Fantastick stumps that I buy at michaels. They are the same. I have also used sponges, daubers, brushes and they all work great for different looks.

I love the effect that Shimmerz can give! (shake well) I use Shimmerz with brushes to enhance images that I've colored, outlines around images, color or enhance paper and fabric flowers, lace, etc. While the colors are light enough to see through, they offer enough color to change the tone of a piece (e.g. fabric flowers) to match your DP.
Here's an example of changing the colors on these flowers: The flowers were originally more a dusty rose....I used a bubble gum pink Shimmerz to alter the color to a more light pink to match the DP.
Flowers
Have fun!

Just so you know....all the colors son't have a metallic look to them. Kind of sounds like you think that they might.
The all-purpose inks are great for using on fabrics as well.
I bet that Black Pearl Color is amazing.

I have about 30 colors too and they all have a "shimmer" look to the color (matches the name - ) ....very similar to the effect of Twinkling H20's. Not sure if I would call any of them metallic looking but certainly all of the ones that I have do shimmer and shine. In fact, I'm quite sure that if I took the time, I could convert some of my H2O's into Shimmer paint and create additional colors and ease of use...other than that I love the H2O's too for a shimmer effect....they are quite easy to use even as is.

They are the exact same products for the ones SU is selling. SU is selling the Tsukineko brand. Just buying from here is cheaper.

I have the Stargazer watercolor palette and love it ...
(I picked up my palette at Stampin & Scrapin Memories ages ago. It's a frequent 'go to' item in my stampin life.)
Other than using the shimmer to make a spritzer (which seems pretty cool!), does anyone know how the two (palette and shimmers) compare? TIA

Wow, I'm confused! The clerk at my local stamp store told me that these are not the same as SU's. In fact, she told me that these paints would take at least 24 hours to dry and the SU brand dry much more quickly (she was unclear as to exactly how long.) I have been dying to buy these from SU but the $6.95 shipping price stopped me dead cold. Is this clerk mistaken?

They must have changed the formula then. I have all the colors (from about 4 years ago) and all except the metallic colors are just plain colors. No shimmer at all. Just plain ol' opaque paint colors.

Scroll down to this link
http://www.softexpressions.com/softw...pInk2.php#ink2
to the Metallics -
These are the EXACT SAME that SU is selling in the Champagne Mist and Frost White and Platinum- the bottles are also the very same item.
The difference is that these at Soft Expressions are cheaper. They are only $3.76 vs $4.95
They are all made by Tsukineko - NOT SU
The drying time is the exact same and they do not take 24 hours - only a few minutes.
Also - If you turn your bottle and read on the back from SU - It does say TSUKINEKO on the back. SU just bought these to sell in there catty but they are not the makers of these paints.

Mel would they also be the same as these? Or is this a different product altogether?

I'm sorry for any confusion that I may have added to this conversation!:(

I've found they warp slightly when I spray them, but mostly flatten out.
I use a small spray bottle, about 2 oz, like an empty Stampin' Mist bottle.
I fill it half full with 70% alcohol (others have tried 99%, but found it didn't work quite as well).
Then I put in 'some' of the shimmer ink. Close the lid and shake.
'some' = I pour out a 'glob' or two.
I'm not an 'exact' person (it's why I almost failed chemistry).
Hope this helps.

I actually have this http://www.franticstamper.com/jacquard.htm in pearlecent white that I bought from SU YEARS ago. It loooks very similar to the frost white that I bought from SU this year. Tomorrow I am going to try mixing it with alchohol and spraying it on paper. I will let you all know what happens. The stuff I put the link up for is a much bigger jar for less $$'s then what I paid for the frost white this year.
TTFN!

No, not even close, BUT are you talking about Shimmerz rather than what SU sells? I have every single color that Shimmerz makes, brand new 1 ounce bottles and used one bottle, one time. I just can't get the hang of it but don't have a problem with the SU shimmer paints.

Ok I finally got a chance to try the Lumiere mixed with 91% alcohol and it seemed to work just fine. It does leave some glimmer on your fingers if you rub on it hard but not to much and I think it could be set with hairspray(or possibly add some gum arabic in as that would work as a binder) no problem. The paper hardly warped at all just a tiny bit and that may be due to the spray bottle I used. The spray bottle was not a fine mist by any means so I think if a fine mister bottle was used there would probably be no warping of the paper at all.
For me with the cost of the Lumiere and that fact that there is so much product in the bottle makes it all worth wild to get this in more colors.
HTH someone.
