Default Scor-Pal

I'm thinking about getting a Scor-Pal, but the price is holding me back. Do you love yours? Do you find it's worth it for the money? Where's the best place to get one?

Two things I waited too long to get to end frustration the Score-Pal and the Tonic 12' platform guillotine cutter. I got the Cricut the first week they came out and was so happy I did...why I waited on the other 2 after spending $275 on the 6" Cricut--I have no idea!!

I really love my Scor-Pal and use it all the time. I also got the Scor-Mat that sits inside it and I love that too. It sits on my desk when I am crafting and I use it as my stamping surface. I highly recommend it. As for the best place, I'm not sure about that. Maybe check out the Scor-Pal Member forum.

I bought my ScorPal in April 2008. I saw it used as a tool on many projects so did my research. I liked the fact you didn't have to move the c/s much to get all the scorelines done before removing the c/s from the ScorPal base. (i.e. for waterfall cards or tiered cards, etc.) Checked the big box stores and LSS but couldn't find an outlet that sold it locally so called the phone number on their website. I talked to the creator of the ScorPal, Diana(e) Crick. She had just come back from a craft show and even looked up my location and gave me the name of the store owner who had ordered from her. I have also had occasion to talk to her husband when there was that problem with the scoring tool. Their customer service is OUTSTANDING. (Nothing like talking to the owner/creator, right?)

I know that the ScorPal is more expensive than other scoring tools on the market but I, myself, think it is the 'best'! I have a mini Score It (I make mostly cards) and the MS scoring board (has lots of choices for scorelines but I find it difficult to use them because the grooves are SO close together and you have to find a better tool to use than is provided-bone folder than is not too thick to fit the groove or an embossing tool with a rounded top that will fit the grooves) but much prefer the ScorPal. I am not a math genius but do not find the 'little' math necessary for some projects overly difficult. (Will keep the MS tool to take to craft meetings - will not take my ScorPal where it might be abused and not treated with TLC.)

These are just my opinions. I am sure others will 'chime in' with theirs but I have found the price I paid money well spent for my hobby. For me, it is like my ATG gun and guillotine paper cutter, a tool that enhances my enjoyment of papercrafting.

sue ciucci....I've had my Scor-Pal now for several years and use it for every project. I can't make a card of a 3D object without it. I have another brand of score board, but don't use it due to it being inconvenient (in my opinion).

I also purchased the Score-Mat when ti came out, but only use that as a stand alone mat on the grid size. Others seem to like that, but just doesn't work that well for me.

I love the Scor-Pal and feel it is well worth the investment as other craft tools are.

I purchased mine directly from the Scor-Pal website. That saved a lot of time searching various websites as it is not available in any stores in my area.

Best scoring tool out there! I love my Scor-Pal and mat! I use them every time I am in the craft room! The competition doesn't really compare! You will love your Scor-Pal!

Ladies, thank you all soooo much for your replies! I just KNEW I needed that tool! I'm so glad to hear you all think it's so worth it. Thank you also for comparing it, Crafter 4 Life, with the MS scoring board, because that answers a question for me, too. Thank you all so much for taking the time to give me your opinion. I so appreciate it.

I got my scor-pal this fall. It's good, but I find when I use 100lb wt. card stock (I do wedding invites as well as regular cards), that I don't always get the best score. Am I glad I have it, yes...and after reading this thread, i may need to purchase the mat because of questions that I too had that are now answered.

Let us know how YOU like it once you get it!

I love my Scor-Pal, I purchased it thru the their website and bought the Ultimate Package so I would also have the Scor-Mat (I also Love it) and I like the piercing bug and the tape is awesome. I highly recommend this product. I have not made a card without this tool since receiving it. You won't regret it....

I have to admit that I LOVE MY SCOR PAL!!!! LOVE IT!!!! I use it to scor EVERY fold...It makes such a big difference! And, for heavy card stock, it's perfect...No big "cracks" in the folds, etc. I used it today for scoring areas on a card for a brayer resist! It's so useful!

I love mine too. It's my most used tool next to my cutter and adhesive.

I just bought one off of SCS for about two-thirds of the sticker price. I can't wait until it comes - they look like such great tools to have!!

Default Website with scor-pal

Does anyone know where I can find a site with the score-pal on it. It sounds like a tool I was interested in, but didn't get a few years ago. I'm still interested. Anyone?

Thanks!

Default Cricut?

Hi again. To the people who have cricuts: (I have one.) Have you found any uses for it on cards? I use it for scrapbooks sometimes, making flowers and just whatever that page might need.

Am I correct in thinking that everything posted here, or used for a challenge really needs to be done by hand? I feel like otherwise, some people shun the short-cuts. Is that true?

NO ONE HAS SAID THAT TO ME...I just wanted to make that clear, so it wouldn't start a "she said-she said" fight.

Also, when making cards for challenges and such, can we use paper and chipboard and other items from kits that are all matchy-matchy? Or do we need to use individually purchased items and arrange them together?

I really appreciate an answer. If you don't want to be heard/seen here you can send me a note.

Thanks again!

Thanks to everyone who answered! I appreciate all your comments! I don't think there's any way I'd be making a mistake when I buy that Scor-Pal. You've convinced me! Thanks a bunch.
