Default Scalloped Oval, Circle, Square, etc... in Cricut!

I posted this in the Cricut chatter thread, but wanted to make sure people saw it. I just got the Storybook cart. because I love the font. And now in the booklet I saw it will cut scalloped circles, ovals, squares & rectangles!!! I'm SOOOOO excited!!! This is by far going to be my favorite cart. & the best value!

Here is the cheat sheet.
Accent Blackout (shift) will cut:
W-Oval Scallop
4-Square Scallop
C-Square Scallop
D-Oval
F-Rectangle
G-Rectangle Scallop
H-Rectangle
I-Circle Scallop
J-Square
K-Circle
L-Rectangle
M-Funky Circle Scallop
N-Rectangle Scallop
T-Square Scallop
V-Oval Scallop
Z-Oval
7-Square

And there are marquees that look like that SU top note die. Some are under the marquees & some are under the words.

Smile thanks!

I just got the Storybook cartridge too! I haven't really sat down with it yet, so thanks for the heads up. I did manage to make a darling wedding card (if I may say so myself) with the "happily ever after" and a few "bling" gem embellishments. Love the cricut! Thanks again for your post.

I got it on Ebay. The shipping was reasonable. I think it was 6.95 perhaps less. I was very pleased.
Blessings.

Can the Cricut and the Storybook cartridge replace all the nestability dies and the top note die? If yes, that sure offsets the price of the Cricut! I guess it wouldn't do the embossing though.

It is definately a must -- I've had it for a month -- and I don't think I've touched any of my other cartridges....

Such a wonderful one

That is what I am thinking also -- except I love the embossing around the edges of the nestabilities and top note. I am going to try to figure out a way to do my own embossing on some of them.

Now I'm thinking it might have been a mistake to sell my Cricut. I had it for 2 years and didn't use it, but this is THE cartridge I could have enjoyed. Oh well.

It got me to get my Cricut out too. I had not used it for over 6 months. I am also excited to use the Storybook cartridge I got last week. I played all weekend with the Home Accents and Accents and Elements...It was FUN!
Blessings.

Default Helpful Tip

I am a very visual person and precise with my layouts. I found a trick and thought I'd pass it along:

I set my Cricut to the lightest pressure setting. Using very cheap, white cardstock, I cut several sizes (1", 2", 2.5",etc.) of the same shape - or the case of this post, I cut several shapes). Remove the paper from the Cricut. On each cutout, I note the size and/or shape this cutout represents. Then, I take this sheet of paper with the light cutout and using my chalk, I outline each shape. This way I can compare each size/shape without cutting on my good paper - such as Bazill that costs more money.

I'm new to the "Cricut World" and I had no idea Storybook has all the scalloped shapes.
Thanks so much for posting the shortcuts, now I'll put this cartridge on my Christmas list.

I got a great SCAL file off of svgcuts.com that works great for scallops also, for anyone interested in an even cheaper scallop alternative! Under ten bucks, I'm thinking.

I bought it for full price when it came out and it paid for itself in no time! I love it! Especially the fact that one can cut "top note" style shapes and layer them!
I use the scallop ovals all the time, but there's also one that's just the long skinny oval for layering. Such a good deal!

Thank you so much for posting this cheat sheet. I've had my Cricut for 3 years now and I love it, but recently received the Cuttlebug for Christmas and was thinking I needed to buy alot of the Nestibilities dies for all the scalloped shapes. Now that I know I can cut them with Storybook, I'm so excited! I did buy the Label 8 Nesties at a great price, but I'd rather put my money on something that I can get the most out of. Afterall, there are still alot of embossing folders I want for my Cuttlebug. I'm off now to print off that cheat sheet and find a good deal on Storybook.

Thanks again!

O.K., the point came up a few posts back about not being able to emboss on the Storybook diecuts like you can with the Nestabilities. I just found this on another thread. Gina K shows how to emboss a plain circle diecut using a can. It's so cleaver and I thought I would share.

http://blog.ginakdesigns.com/2008/02...sor-is-it.aspx

With this, you can at least emboss a plain circle to layer with a scallop circle cut with Storybook, and if you have a Cuttlebug, you can emboss the scalloped circle. I love this and can't wait to try it. I love her example, it's so pretty! Also, in the comments below the post, someone mentioned maybe using the rounded square cans that the International Coffee's come in as a possible option as well.

Embossing on the Cricut??? Why not buy the embossing tool and mat for the Pazzles......... Several people have done it and it works fine......... Take a look at it...... I think you will see that it will fit fine. The blade holder for the pazzles and Cricut are almost identical....... I havent tried it myself yet......... but i plan to.

Yes, I'm quite sure that's how you do it, or at least that's how it works on some of my other carts. I ordered SB from Oh My Crafts three weeks ago, but I'm still waiting for it to be shipped. They sent me an email saying it will be shipped as soon as it's back in stock.
