Exclamation SCAL "checking mat".....HELP!

Someone PLEASE help me. I keep getting "checking mat" message on my original cricut. IT won't cut. I have tried suggestions I saw via google search. I also am awaiting response from craft edge.
I have windows 7 on this new laptop (might be compatibility issue), and, SCAL V.2 with 1.3 firmware.
I would appreciate any help you guys can give me! Thanks in advance!!!

Sorry to hear that your scal is not working. I've never had this problem. All I can suggest is that you try restarting your laptop and unplug the USB cable and then plug it again.

99 times out of 100 it's a problem with the usb connection. Cricuts don't like hubs so make sure you connect straight to the laptop, if you're already doing that try a different port or lead.

Smile Tks!

Thank you guys for trying to help me. I needed to download the updated software for the V2. I was working with an older version. Since this upgrade everything has been ok.
