Default Ribbon sources - where else should I look?

I need some ribbon for a project and - I admit it, I'm a matchy-matchy girl ;) - I can't find anything that works. I've been to my local stores (outside of Boston) - was about to head to another one today in NH and just found out they closed (Scrapbook Island in Derry :( ). I've tried the big-box stores -no luck. And nothing from SU or PTI matches. I don't see anything right at Stamper's Dream - although they do have some gorgeous ones! Is there somewhere else to try?

Have you tried a fabric store or quilting shop? What about interior design stores? If all else fails, I'd go shopping online. Seam binding comes in tons of delicious colors, check Etsy for the best deals.
What color are you looking for?

Fabric/quilting stores around here are even more rare than stamp stores. All the ones I know of have closed. :(

I found two online places that have tons of colors - ribbonbazaar.com and theribbonretreat.com - very dangerous! ;)

I use a lot of 5/8" ribbon - although I like seam binding, with at least the SU kind, it's too sheer for what I'm doing. Despite having a large stash of SU ribbon, sometimes I just don't have what I need - like a 5/8" ribbon that's the color of Baja Breeze. What I was looking for to begin with was a poppy red that is more orange than red - very hard to find. Of course I found a lot more colors that I "need" once I started browsing these sites! LOL! But there are some that look promising so I'm going to try some different ones and hope that my monitor isn't deceiving me too much.

What is it that you are trying to match it to? ... If it is a line of paper maybe it may be easier to help you find it.

Oh, it's old stuff.... Scenic Route, I believe, and I don't even remember which line. I don't think that brand even exists anymore.

Thanks for the offer - I am hoping I've ordered something that will work. If not, I'll be looking when I'm on vacation in a couple weeks!

I am trying to use up the old paper I've been hoarding for years - it's kind of fun to go back through it all, but matching things up has been a challenge sometimes!

Here is a neat tutorial about coloring ribbon to match using SU markers. I'm sure you could use other markers as well to get the color you wanted:

Have you tried NoTimetoStamp? They have a great selection of ribbons.
