Hello, I searched for the thread on this question but could not find the answer. I have some PTI dies and they are leaving my white paper cuts grey and stained. I was wondering does anyone know how to remove the coating on the dies? I tried washing in soap and water but it was worse. Thanks so much for your help in advance. I know this is an old question. iluvpaper2
I can't help you regarding this problem, but try cross posting your question in General stamping forum. There is not much activity here on SCS, you might get an answer on that forum.
Also maybe give PTI a call on Monday or send an email. Maybe they have some ideas for you, just a thought.

Are the dies new or older? If it was worse after washing it may be that there used to be a protective coating that is gone now. Perhaps you could spray them with a clear sealer (like Krylon or something similar) and it would solve the issue...?
A couple of years ago (just before they became ITP), there was a discussion on their forum about this problem. I don't fully recall the exact reply, but it had something to do with a new manufacturer or manufacturing process. I think they said to run the die several times and the problem would eventually disappear. Definitely worth contacting their customer service.

I know it happens, but cross-posting is technically banned under the terms of the site rules, in order that there is more consistency in threads and search results ;-).
I was curious to see the responses as I had s similar issue with one only set of Cheery Lynn dies, but I never got a response from them before Dave (?) sold it on.
Sorry didn't realize, just trying to help out as not many responses in this thread.
Now I know and won't mention this again.

I have a vague memory of this happening with some SU dies of mine, but in that case it was actually the die coating itself coming off - can you see if it's degraded and you can see raw metal anywhere?
