Hi everyone, I have been out of stamping for some time and am getting back into it. I have a few projects that the regular snail adhesive/tombow doesn't hold. I see sticky strip is no longer a Stampin Up! product. What do you guys use instead? I'd prefer a dry adhesive as opposed to a wet one, but am open to what works. I am working with heavy textured cardstock out of the UK, which is heavier than what we buy here in the states. Thanks! Annette
I also prefer using a dry ahesive nearly all the time.
Redline tape is still around, just harder for me to find. It has to be cut with scissors, its backing is subject to static electricity, and it is more expensive than the "white" double-ahesive tapes.
Stampin' Up! has its Tear-&-Tape, which has worked, but my go-to is Sookwang's tapes. I'm not sure if their Be Creative carried by Simon Says and Scor-Tape mentioned by other vendors are both the same product, but I have used both successfully. I buy several widths to use at different times, and really like having 1-1/2" and 2-1/2" widths to use on the back of cardstock when cutting out dies. Yes, there is some waste, but I chalk it up to mental health money.
I've recently bought the Scotch ATG tape dispenser. I love dry adhesive too, and found the snail type were becoming an expensive way of adding tape. The gun is great, easy to use, easy to refill and holds all my cardstock- I'm in the UK, so get the heavy cardstock too. Works out way cheaper than keep buying the snail ones. My other goto is the standard DST with the white backing, so I can tear it. Hate having to keep getting scissors to the red backed stuff!
I bought some of the Scrapbook.com tapes to try, and I didn't like them as well as the Sookwang/ScorTape - the tape feels thinner, and it separates more easily from the liner before I'm expecting it too. Not sure how they compare as far as stickiness or durability, but the use of it was more difficult for me.
Thanks everyone for your great responses and support! I have not heard of scrapbook.com but will check it out. You gave me lots of recommendations and I am grateful! Yes I will share my creations when I get them done! Best regards, Annette
I use Miracle Tape available from Viva Las Vegastamps. Watch for their annual 40% off sale in February. Miracle Tape comes in a variety of widths and is really strong.
I use dry adhesives almost exclusively---except for adhering bling. I use scotch double sided tape in both the half inch size and 3/4" width. It works in most cases, even heavy paper. Textured, glittered or fuzzy paper can be a problem, so I go with the Sookwang or the red liner stuff.
I also use the scotch ATG! I have been stamping for over tens years and it has not let me down!!! tapedepot.com is a cheap place to buy more rolls. I am in a club and the ship me out more adhesive every 6 months! Yay! I won't forget!!!
if anyone is close to a tuesday morning, check there for the red tape. have seen it several times, but since I don't use it, I didn't get any. I have also seen it at my dollar tree, sometime last year, again, I don't use it so I didn't get it'
several years ago I got several rolls of different widths of the sticky back tape from blitsy when it was all on sale. I got probably 20 rolls, so I still don't need any, but when I do, that's probably where I'll go and order more.
Wow, so many choices! I love it. Thanks again and I'll definitely check Tuesday Morning. I haven't been in there for some time. I appreciate the club info and places to go for the cheapest! I do remember using a lot of adhesive so every savings help.
If you are buying your cardstock in the UK, then I would also get some double sided tape over here. It seems to be much cheaper than the US stuff. It is mostly unbranded as well.
