Default Quick Cuttlebug question

OK I tried to read through the big long Cuttlebug thread- really I did...but I didn't find an answer to my question...or I missed it within the thread...
I just got a Cuttlebug today (thanks to Micheal's 50% off coupon - I had two - so got the Hippy Chick font - actually my mombought me the Cuttlebug for my B-day- anyway I digress)
When I passed a diecut through the machine it also cut into the plastic cutting plate on the top - Is this normal?? is this what it is suppose to do???
I am thinking yes since they sell extra cutting plates - but I wanted to be sure I wasn't doing anything wrong

Yes, you can rotate where you are cutting the die on the cutting plate to increase the life of the cutting plate. Enjoy your new toy!!

thanks for the quick responses...now I know whenever I have that extra Micheals 40% off have nothing else to buy to grab some extra plates ...

Now to find some good on-line sources for the embossing folders and diecuts because Micheals selection sucks...

It's normal. I was so concerned when I first used mine and had to ask the same question. I though something was wrong.

I have an extra set too, for "just in case". BUT, your plates will be VERY marked up all over on both sides before you ever need to replace them. They really do take a beatin' so-to-speak.

I'm so glad you posted this question. I just opened mine about an hour ago, and thought I was doing something wrong, or it wasn't working right. They should give more info in the instructions. I got an alphabet set from my DS, and the CB from my DH. It is really great. I will be playing with it as soon as I get time. We exchanged gifts this afternoon. Our son and his family wanted to have dinner early and get home for Santa.

This is so great, I did the same thing and wondered if I did something wrong. I got my early birthday present for my DH! I only have 1 die right now but am waiting for more to come via E-Bay. I can't wait to get my alphabets to play with.
Merry Christmas Every one, keep those new bugs warm and safe
