Default Question about clear stamps

What kind of ink works best with clear stamps? I have all the SU classics but they don't seem to work well with my clear stamps.

I like color box stamp pads. It has a foam pad and I think with clear stamps that makes a huge difference. I am not so impressed with SU! ink but I do like the variety of color they have.

Wink

Clear stamps have a residue on them left over from the manufacturing process this causes the ink to "bead up" on the stamps.

Some people condition or prime their stamps before they use them the first time. Some wash them with soap and water, (be careful not to drop them down the drain. YIKES!!), others use a white eraser and rub the surface of the stamp and I use an emery board to GENTLY rub the stamp until it looks "dull" or "cloudy." I then wipe the stamp off with a damp paper towel to remove the grit. This is only done the first time I want to use the stamp. It does not have to be done every time you use that stamp.

As far as ink goes, some people prefer Versafine, others like chalk inks and pigment inks. Pigment inks and chalk ink are usually heat set in order to become permanent so they do not smear.

Also, clear stamps are flexible so you do not need to press down as hard when you stamp. That causes the image to blur.

Hope this helps you. :-D

I like Versamagic for colored ink images, and Brilliance Graphite Black for outline images.

If I am dying to use an SU color, I use my markers to ink the stamp, I find this gives better coverage without any pooling that the pads create.

Ditto on the Palette Hybrid inks. They work great, even without conditioning your stamps. Another bonus, you can color/watercolor.. whatever, with no bleeding or heat setting.

I have Pallette Inks and recently fell in love with the Colorbox Fluid Chalk inks...now I am collecting all of those...they are so yummy. Easy to use with clear stamps and give awesome images with great coverage. I am also going to try the Versamagic chalk inks....I love ink...lol
blessings.
