Question Puzzled about 6" x 8" paper pads

Hey everyone, I have noticed that a few companies have stopped making 6 inch x 6 inch paper pads and switched to 6 inch x 8 inch. Is there a reason for this?

Not sure, but 5" x 7" is a common card size over here, so maybe it's a response to that?

Or because common photo size is 4x6 and if you cut the 6x8 in half it matches the photo size, with less waste?

I've bought some 6x8 paper that is [email protected]! Studio paper. It is for the 6x8 binders by them and by Project Life. Maybe the binder sizes are driving paper companies to compete?

ETA...Project life comes in 12x12 and 6x8 albums.

I don't know if they are your style, but I love the Doodlebug, Echo Park and Photo Play pads. What I like about the Doodlebug pads is that they have most of their lines which are available in larger sizes, printed in scaled downed designs. This includes both their adorable patterned papers, but also solid color, striped and dotted pages in the diminutive size. I use them for cards, but when scrapping, I also like use the big patterns for layouts, and then make photo mats in the same line, but just in the smaller print. I pick up most of mine on e-bay and Walmart.

I think 6 x 8 is a common binder size now, and I also think the 6 x 8 size might appeal to the planner people too.

I am thinking planners and Midori's too. PL is slowly phasing out and transitioning into hybrid and journaling. Becky's contracts have mostly disappeared and she's gone on to other things like journals, wrapping paper, dresses and trying lifestyle. A lot of companies are dropping PL and going to planners. More lucrative for them.

It depends on your style, of course, but I love My Favorite Things 6x6 pads - for bright, graphic papers.

I like Studio Calicoís 6x6 pads, made for them by different companies. They can be found on various sites like Francís Frantic Stamper, a few on their own site, Etsy, ebay. Hereís one on sale (wonít last long):

this place is having a sale on 6 x 6 but they do have a flat ship of 6.95 so you want to make sure it is worth it to you. I just ordered some. Some of these are double sided.

If you're close to a Tuesday Morning store, they almost always have a nice offering of 6x6 paper pads...

Thanks everyone for your responses I had wondered if it was something to do with Planners but I don't "do" Planners.
