Default Purchasing Envelopes...

Where is a good place to purchase invitation sized envelopes other than the office supply stores?

Online I found:

Envelopes Express : envelopesexpress.com

Envelope Mall: envelopemall.com

and Paper Source: paper-source.com

all seem to have a wide selection of colors. Prices are reasonable ( I think ) and Envelope Express has free shipping!

OH...two more! Found these mentioned in older threads.

Columbian Invitation Envelopes - Various Colors - Sam's Club

And Clearbags.com

I buy all my invitation sized envelopes at XPEDX, a paper supply store. You can get them by the box (typically 250 count) or you can buy what you need and pay by the pound. Click HERE to enter your zipcode and see if there's a location near you.

Great idea. I checked there is one near me. How much do they cost? Do you just walk in to buy them? Thanks for your help.

I love to "google" myself. I was just hoping there was that "one spot" that was the "best" and someone would direct me to it. (and save me the searching, kwim)

So when you say "(I think)" does that mean you think their prices are reasonable because you've purchased from them before? Just curious. And thanks for all the tips. ;)

@kellyjg.....I said " I think" in regards to the prices because after checking all three sites the prices seemed all about the same. I haven't bought envelopes anywhere but from my SU demo in the past. However; I've increased the cards I make over the years and sent some off to an organization for the troops which all require more envelopes.

I've been poking around the web and out here on the boards considering buying in bulk myself. The last two I added to my original response were ones I found mentioned in older threads out here and were places our fellow SCS'ers had ordered from!

Oh...for some reason the places I mentioned didn't show up as links even though I tried to post them that way. It usually works to copy and paste the web address but it didn't yesterday...sorry!!

kymom, sorry, I just saw your question now! Yep, just go on in the store, it's a field trip! LOL The cost varies with the type of envelope. They carry Neenah envelopes, very high quality, I think they are around $25 for a box of 250. They also carry Cougar, they were less per box, I forget the exact price (I think you can look on their website, check there for coupons too!) I bought Accent Opaque, I thought the white matched Neenah's Solar White pretty closely, and they were $14.99 for a box of 250. In the store, there's also a section where you can just grab cardstock and envelopes and pay by the pound if you don't want to buy the whole box.

on further review....I just did a price comparison on the places I mentioned. I'd say forget Envelopes Express...they sell a Basics White A2 in packs of 50 for $17.52! Even with free shipping that is MUCH higher than the other places.

Envelope Mall had a Classic Crest brand A2 in white in 100 packs for $11.50. Not bad but there is cheaper out there.

Skip Paper-Source as well, they were VERY expensive...a 10 pack for $3.25. However if you buy in volume, like 25 packs ( 10 envies each pack ) you get a 20% discount. So if you want to buy LOTS at once, their prices may work out.

Envelopes.com that others mentioned has many options I found a Bright White 70lb size A2 at $8.95 for 50. This was the only site that mentions the weight of the envelope paper if that is important to you. I am partial to the Stampin' Up envelopes because they are heavier than your basic office supply everyday envelope and feel "luxurious". But I don't know what weight the SU ones are.

CLEARBAGS.com....seems to have really good prices. You can find a 50 pack of A2 size in white anywhere from $2.30-$7.95 per pack. That depends on the weight or thickness of the paper used to make the envelope I'm sure. But I didn't see weights listed.

I felt since I had thrown out some suggestions without really having first hand experience I should be a little more specific and check prices. Plus, I got curious!!

I know a few people out here order from Clearbags a lot and seem pleased. Hope you get more responses from people who have ordered online because I am curious as well!

Girl! Thanks for doing so much homework! I appreciate your posting again. That is why I asked about your experience. I was hopin' to hear from some "tried and true" spots to shop envies. Your info will help WONDERS, I'm sure. I totally agree with you (and you stated it SO right) on SU! envies... "luxurious." I just love there envelopes but was told years ago that the same envies could be purchased much cheaper somewhere else. So I thought I'd ask. ;)

I use clearbags.com for all my white and ivory envelopes. I buy A2 size and usually 2000 or 3000 at a time. The price is reasonable: 2000 delivered within two days for less than $80.00. That is 0.04 per envelope or $10.00 per 250. Seems very reasonable for what I purchase. I go through a lot so I always order large amounts...oh..and they adjust the price after you place the order. My last order had a $10.00 credit added.
blessings.

I've been getting envelopes from Sam's club by mail. They come in white or ivory and you get 100 for $7.14 with free shipping:

Default Marco's Paper

Has anyone tried the Greengrocer Brown Bag envelopes from Marco's? I need nice quality kraft enveloped for my cards I'm making for Humane Society Auction. I live 1 1/2 hrs from Marcos and could make the trip but wonder if the SU kraft envelopes would be best.

All things considered...time, expense, needs I settled on envelopes.com for both small thank you note cards and the envelopes. We shall see what they turn out like but I am excited to have finally made a honkin' decision! Thanks to my wonderful resource site...Splitcoast Stampers. You gals are the best.

Default Kraft envelopes

I bought 250 Kraft envelopes from traders_etc. on ebay for $22. They arrived today and I'm pleased with the quality and the price was definitely right! The color on the auction photo for Kraft envelopes looks gray but they are grocery bag brown. This seller has tons of other sizes & colors available for great prices so I think I'll order from them again.
