Problem with Quickstik

Am I the only one who has problems with this tool?

I'm on my second one because I can't figure out how to get more of the adhesive to come out. I end up with lots of the sticky stuff in the barrel but can't get it to come out.

Are you screwing the end towards the barrel to advance the adhesive?

I bought one, and I'm not crazy about it either. You have to turn the end like Lydia said, but mine keeps loosening. When I turn it to tighten it, more comes out (of course). When I've used it up, I think I'll go back to using a crayon to pick up small things. That worked fairly well for me.

Just kidding! I've been wanting one, but prefer trying stuff before buying if I can. I bought some stupid pencil things off Etsy once (they were white) and they didn't work worth poop. I've been jaded ever since.

This tool confused the heck out of me when I first bought it too. I had the opposite problem, though- I noticed the tip was loose and thought, hey, that's not right, so I tightened it and then the adhesive all started gooshing out. I put the lid on it hoping that would stop the flow but it just started building up inside the lid. Then in my panic I finally realized that I had to turn the tip lefty loosey a bit and that stopped the adhesive from coming out. Now I can't live without that tool! When the bit of adhesive on the tip loses its tackiness, just break it off and tighten the tip again until enough adhesive comes out. Then loosen the tip again slightly. I greatly dislike (ok, I hate) the quikstick LOL.....I am in the minority for sure, but all that green stuff oozes out on mine grrrr and the point broke off of the pointy end...I have different tools now that I like wayyyyy better.....just my opinion, 'course

Care to share that alternate tool, Queen?! I have also been struggling with the Quickstik and lolz as I read these accounts of trying to use it — I even called the company, it was so confusing. I don't expect to need a degree from MIT to use crafting supplies!

I'm sure the gummy stuff will disappear really fast, too: I get about two die cuts picked up before it needs to be renewed. Oh — and the pointy bit at the end opposite the spatula shape bent while I was trying to pop out some die cut confetti from kraft paper!

I've had a Quick stick for several years. I have never had to squeeze more green stuff out and it works great!

I can't get the green stuff to come out either - I just can't figure it out. I have read and re-read the instructions so many times trying to work out what on earth I am doing wrong - I just don't get it

I have even tried poking it from the wider end to try and push it through - nope - and it's driving me crazy.

I have been using my Quikstik for a couple of years and rarely have had to advance more green stuff. I use it all of the time. However, some of the plastic barrel cracked into pieces, and I had to tape it together. But after two or more years of use, I think I've gotten my $7 worth out of it. I'm sorry to hear that others are having trouble getting the sticky stuff to advance properly and to keep its stickiness.

Silhouette also makes their version of the QuickStick called the Pick Me Up tool. I just purchased one on Amazon. Will see if it gives me the same issues as the Quickstik.

Here we are on May 5th and I am about to throw my Quickstik out the window! I've been using it to place the positive into the negative for stamping a greeting using my MISTI and I'm running out of the sticky stuff OUTSIDE the tool. I cannot turn it to get more. I can see it in there, but if I turn it counter clock wise, the top comes off with the tip. If I turn it clockwise it tightens up but the sticky stuff doesn't come out. WHAT HAPPENED!

Man, I can't stand this tool LOL Have you tried screwing down the gummy tip, where it sits in the barrel? The company explained that as you screw down that top, the sticky stuff comes out (and I guess runs out when you've screwed the top all the way down). But it's so easy to accidentally screw that top down further and make the sticky stuff come out, because it sits so loose in the barrel. Ugh. Baaaad design.

I was thinking of maybe popping mine in a snaplock bag and popping it in very hot water to see if the green stuff might soften up and come out. When I first got my Quickstik, I couldn't stop the green stuff coming out and now it won't come out and it is like it has gone hard. So frustrating!

Ditto! ditto! and Ditto! I bought a second one, I was so sure there was only one lemon in the world. Same thing happens.......I can see the sticky stuff but can't make it come out. How ironic others can't STOP it from coming out.

Same thing happens with every brand of white ink pens I buy. ARGGGHHH!

I'm with Jeanette. I either use a white crayon, or a toothpick with some beeswax on the end. I'm too cheap to buy a tool when, worse comes to worse, I'll just lick my finger

I've been thinking of buying one, but my demo came up with a "do it yourself" version that works great.
She purchased a bunch of bamboo skewers from a grocery store...and just wraps a glue dot or two around the end. Bump it against your jeans or T-shirt a few times to get rid of TOO MUCH stickiness and it works great to pick up small embellishments or even small fussy cut pieces of paper.
Once it loses ALL stickiness....which will take a while if you are just a hobby stamper...grab a piece of sandpaper and sand off the end; apply a fresh glue dot and you are good to go.
