Default Problem with MFT Classic Staircase Die

Is there anyone besides me having a problem with the MFT Classic Staircase die? I ordered one from a very reputable on-line store, and when I tried to use it with both my Big Shot and Cuttlebug, it doesn't cut completely through (the top part of the staircase won't cut). The company was kind enough to send me a replacement immediately when I called, but I'm experiencing the same problem with the replacement die! I'm embarrassed to call again and complain, thinking I'll just "eat" my loss and use my scissors to cut the part of the die that won't cut through. Any other suggestions?

Correction: Memory Box die, NOT MFT

You might try cardstock shims over the part that doesn't cut completely. Also, try a couple of passes through your machine, or run it through once, and then reverse it and run through again.

I use a metal shim for all my thin dies. Whether they are intricut or not. I got mine from PTI, but I think MFT has one too. Called an adapter.

I also had a problem with a memory box die some time ago and was still having a problem with the replacement that they sent out. What machine are you using? You may want to consider replacing your plates.

Thanks for the tips! I tried everything with both machines -- BS and Cuttlebug -- extra shimming, several passes through/reversing, etc. I don't think the problem is with the plates, as both machines work fine with all my other dies. However, I have been eyeballing that adaptor metal shim -- it's on my wish list.

I did contact the company I purchased the dies from, and they agreed to have Memory Box send me a new one directly from them, just in case they got a defective batch.

Thanks for your suggestions!
