fredness - that is GORGEOUS!!
Perfect amount of info --- thanks so much!
....you could bullet point the colors so they're easier to find than in a paragraph --- but that's just my personal processing style!! LOL!!!

Thanks, MrHambo! Yes, Pale Sage is awesome BUT Cream is my shortest pencil . The BEST pencil for warming up tones and highlights.

Curious - once I challenged myself to use all my longest pencils, the colors I rarely reach for. Which pencils are your longest ones?

My long ones (not including newly replaced or new colors) are:
French Grey 90%, Violet, Dark Purple, Imperial Violet, Cerulean Blue, Parrot Green, Aquamarine, Peacock Green, Spring Green, Deco Yellow, Pale Vermillion, & Carmine Red.
Guess those are all on the brightish side - I'll have to explore that side of me soon!

Yeah...my intense ones are the longest. Process Red, Pale Vermillion..Peacock Blue and Green. My Bronze is rarely used. Seems like the only Reds I use are Carmine Red and Tuscan Red. Good question!

Fredness how did you do the grass. Is that just pencil drawn on your image. Your card is amazing. I use pencils and googone all the time. LOVE this... Really nice work.. Is the sky done in little circles? I need to study this...

hmmm most of the grey's and oranges. White and black, I am going to try blending with more white or colour on dark cardstock. White is an underrated colour

Thanks The grass was drawn with pencils; I probably went over the strokes with a blending stump though. The sky... yep, used little circles, feather light pressure... I used my lightest blues first then went over with gradually darker blues.

The Long Ones - well last week I could have said none, because I don't buy sets, I only buy the colors I like. But, I took a class with Karen Lockhart and she uses a lot of colors I don't normally use, so now I have aobut 30 long ones!

Excuse me if this question has already been asked & answered, is there a good electric pencil sharpener for the prismacolor pencils? Since I have to sharpen all 120 of them.. thought I would ask

I JUST bought a Boston X-Acto (model 1730) from Staples. I am on the fence about it. Not sure if I like the cutting angle.... really long but very pointy. The paper with it says not to put soft waxy pencils through it? I am going to guess they all say that because the wax sticks to the augers.

My longest would be my Warm Greys, the whole group of them as I tend to reach for the French or Cool Grey tones first. I haven't used any of my warms. My other longest would be the bronze.
I've been matching pencils to the patterned papers I'm planning on using for my cards. I pull all the matches and put them in a pencil can to use until either the paper is gone or I'm tired of the colors. I find myself using a lot of colors I wouldn't have reached for on my own this way.

My longest one would be Orange pc918. Not because it is a color I don't use. Just the opposite. I use it a lot to color my monarch butterflies. I just bought a new one 2 weeks ago.

I used to do that..or rather my wife would do it for me.....I don't have such a keen eye for color. Need to start doing it again.
Here's a Card I just colored. My wife...the lovely Monica...put it all together and put it in her gallery. It's a great scene to use some of those colors I never use.

Maria, what did you use to blend?
I am really on the fence between prisma water color and premier.... I need to choose one, buy some more, and start practicing....

FYI mineral/baby oil and the various mineral spirits will blend watercolor pencils! So if you haven't splurged on prismacolor premiers or other regular artist pencils and have watercolor pencils in your toolbox, try them out I haven't noticed much difference in the 2 kinds of pencils after blending, except, I think the watercolor pencils are a bit more smooth or less grainy.

I'll try mineral oil on the w/c pencils. I just have not found my perfect combination yet!

I got a few cards made this week using my pencils. You can see close-ups on my blog. I tried using the layering method to blend - - particularly on her shirt - without much success.

I use H2O's over pencils to give it a much deeper color. I love it. I especially like the browns. It is gives it a richer look..

I did a prisma daffodil card where I used mod podge to give it a bit of shine without making it too sparkly. It is hard to see in the picture but it looks nice in person. Check it out if you have a chance. Scroll down below the fairy to see it.

HI Ladies
Well here is my first coloring with the pencils.. I like the one on the left better. The one on the right I colored it full and just blended on top, where as the one on the left I just pulled in the color. TFL!
