Default Why are the Cricut carts so cheap right now?

I might have missed this info...I had a baby recently and not logged in here! I have gotten lots of emails with offers of Cricut carts for $23. I have the Cricut Expression. Is something new coming out? Why are so many so cheap now?

Thanks!!

They have "retired" some of the older cartridges, these are the ones I am seeing for around $20.

I even heard they had some half off on HSN!

I heard Cricut will be releasing a lot of new cartridges this year and next, that's why a lot of the stores are trying to get rid of the old cartridges.

I also heard at our stamping convention that they were going to start selling Cricut cartridges at Wally world soon.

They have....they are called "Cricut Lite", they are exclusive to Wal-Mart and they cost 40 bucks apiece! They are not full-sized cartridges, either. They have 50 images per cartridge plus a shadow feature, as well as a bonus feature that is a font or a layer. I did get one that is all cupcake wrappers that was very nice. It does 50 different wrappers plus toppers for them. I also purchased one that is 50 different labels. I thought these were worth the money because I will definitely use the cupcakes wrappers a lot and the labels cartridge was a heck of a lot cheaper than buying 50 differerent sets of Nesties (which I LOVE). They have 24 or 25 different Lites, but that is not to say that each Wal-mart will carry them all. Mine doesn't. So, if you want one that you can't find at your store, your only option will probably be Ebay. I have already seen some for sale there and the prices are steep!

I am SO disappointed with Circut cartridges ONLY for purchase at Walmart. $39 is more than I have ever paid for a cartridge.

Yeah, me, too. Kind of got you over a barrel now. If you want the cartridge you've got to pay that price, and if you can't find the one you want in your store, you may have to resort to Ebay, and we all know that won't be cheap. I'm all for free enterprise and all, but this just bugs me. Some people don't shop Wal-mart, so I guess they will miss out. I know that it's everyone's choice, but I just feel like this company is doing a lot of things lately that are not very customer friendly or small-business friendly. And don't get me started on this Cricut Circle business that they just started......grrrr!!
