What adhesive to use - bond fabric on both sides of cardstock

Recently I learned to make Finnish star ornaments (you can google it to see what they are). These were done with fabric adhered on both sides of cardstock using a product called Heat N Bond, which required the use of an iron to bond everything together. I have an iron, but haven't used it in years and don't even want to get it out! I am wondering what other adhesive I might use to make 12" by 12" squares using 12 x 12 cardstock with fabric on both sides. Any suggestions?

PS - The stars we mane in class were made with 6" strips 1/2" wide. I just want to make large 12 x 12 to start from.

I'd suggest maybe a spray adhesive, that way you should be able to get it completely stuck down without glue seeping through. Another possibility is adhesive sheets? Lol at the iron comment- the only time mine EVER comes out is for crafting ;) Fusible fibres, ironing Distress tags etc,

I hate my iron too. The only reason I use my iron is for sewing high end clothing projects. The last time I did that I think Bush was still in office, ROFL!

I use a little craft iron for heat and bond. It works really well and it's not annoying like the big iron. You can also use a Xyron machine or like shazsilverwolf suggested spray adhesive.

I have also used spray adhesive for cloth to cardstock for crafts. Made fabric covered cones. It worked well.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Sounds like the spray adhesive is the way to go. That is what I"ll be trying.
