Prisma premeir lightfast
I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and found a tin of 24 Prismacolor Premeir Lightfast pencils for $17.99. The regular sticker price said they were regularly$49.99. I have not opened them up yet so I can still return them if I want. Can anyone tell me what they mean by Lightfast? I have never heard of them? Can you use them like the "regular" ones? I have never used any of them so any help and/or input would be great!!!

It just means that they will resist fading for a certain period of time. That's great for artists creating works of art meant to be displayed for years and years, not something we cardmakers should be worrying too much about.

There is no difference between the ones in the black tins...the Premier that everyone uses with OMS...and the lightfast ones in the silver tins. The lightfast were just "guaranteed" not to fade.

The reason that you got such a good price is that the lightfast are now discontinued as a separate line. Beginning next year they will be incorporated into the regular Premier line.

There is some discussion on the pencil artists boards as to whether or not the lightfast pencils will retain their number code and just change the prefix. For example, a change from LF716 to PC716. Prismacolor says that they will retain the number.

What I wonder is whether some of the PC pencils will be discontinued over time. Some are not lightfast and some are very similar colors to some in the lightfast line. I guess I'll just wait and see...like everyone else!
