Default Old style SU corner punch

Hi there, I just found this old thumb punch corner punch and was wondering...it has a plastic attachment that comes off, what is that for? If it's on there, I can't get the paper all the way in so I don't think its a guide, is it? If it IS a guide then it must be on there wrong :p Help? Thanks!

You can take the guide off and use the punch along an edge for a border. Just gotta be careful taking it on and off so you don't chip out a piece of the plastic...

The guide is there to give you two edges to insert your paper up against.
Look at the 4th picture in this post:
New Twist on the Scallop Edge Punch |

If it isn't working properly that way, then it is possible that the guide isn't inserted all the way into the base or isn't inserted properly. Just be careful removing it if you do. You don't want to break it. But it does kind of snap into place. And the printed edge-of-paper lines on the top of the punch line up with the edges of the guide if you are looking straight down on the punch.

I think it might have been on upside down! ha! I took it off and flipped it around. It pops off when I punch though so maybe it's still not on right. I will have to play with it a little. Thanks for the answers!!!
