Default Glue pen vs embossing pen

I'm getting kind of tired of not being able to find an embossing pen at my local Joann or Michael's store...is it possible just to use a glue pen, sprinkle embossing powder over that, then heat it?

TangerineZoe.....No, a glue pen will not work for heat embossing. You can find the embossing pens at Michaels or AC Moore in the isle where the small items are....tape, glue dots, glue pens, etc. There are 3 different ones that would work for embossing. I know one is by Ranger, not sure about the other one. Comes in a set of one black and one white, or white alone and also another one that I believe by Zig (kinda a blueish/green color barrel). One of the above mentioned ones says Perfect Medium, but will also work for heat embossing.
