Default Fiskar's Fuse dies - compatibility?

Has anyone used these yet? What do you think? Will they work in a BigShot? Curious minds want to know! Here's a link (and a contest)

Based on what's on the website, I think you can use other dies (with their adapter kit) in the Fuse, but it doesn't sound like you can use the Fuse dies in other machines. Pretty smart on their part, but their machine is a little 'spendy' for me!

I am really curious too. I like the letterpress look but have had a lot of trouble with the fiddly Lifestyle crafts plates (which are very cheaply made but expensive to buy). The Sizzix Ink its are a lot better but there are not a great range yet and the have no word plates, and because there is a lot of unused background space on the plates it is more difficult to combine designs like you can with the Lifestyle crafts ones. I have not got the epic six I just letterpress with my BigShot.

I find it difficult to believe there is no way to adapt the Fuse letterpress inserts to other machines, seeing as they are only raised plastic discs. It may take a bit of effort/fiddling though to get it right. I would be surprised if the dies could work on other machines though, and you kind of need the dies to cut out the letterpressed shape.

Please someone answer our question!

By the way how many stampin up letterpress plates are there in the US now? I am in AUS so none have been released here yet.

Default Fuse Dies Work in the BigShot

They work in the BigShot. I bought the Fiskars Leaf die with letterpress plates #0108. Opened tabs 1 and 2 on my multipurpose platform for the Bigshot, put one of the letterpress plates in the die then placed the die ON tab 1 and 2 , rather than the actual platform, and then placed the cardstock, and 1 Bigshot cutting plate and it worked great! It took me several tries to figure that out. The leaf turned out gorgeous! Hope this helps.

Regards,

Kelly

Thanks for the info Kelly, I figured there must be a way to use them, just didn't want to spend the money to find out. Has anyone tried a Fiskars FUSE die with letterpress inks not just as embossing?

I tried the die tonight using Stampin' Ups new ink pads and it turned out gorgeous. I'll have to try them with other types of ink and see how it goes. I bought 2 more dies today. They are spendy at $39.95, but oh so fun!! I bought mine at JoAnn's. Our Michael's had a small collection. Hopefully it will be possible to use coupons on the dies.

Wow! I just love Splitcoaststampers! I was just wondering how I could find out about the new Fiskars system as well. It just didn't seem possible that you couldn't use their with a Big Shot! The Big Shot is just so versatile! Now I can't wait to buy some and try it myself! They have some very cute styles!

Default Check out YouTube for demos........

Hi. There are demos on YouTube.

The dies/embossers/letterpress work with Bigshot and Vagabond (per the video) using a Cuttlebug C plate (this is the crafttestdummies demo video on Youtube).....

How cool to cut and letterpress in one pass

I have another suggestion for us Bigshot users.
I also bought the same Fuse leaf die as Kelly. I tried what Kelly suggested, but the sandwich seemed to be too thick for my bigshot (I have read that each machine may need a different shim or two for each sandwhich). I cut part of the design, but didn't want to go through the entire plate as I didn't want to force it and break my machine. So I tried a couple of things and ended up using the tab 2 only with my crease pad on top, not the acrylic. I got a good impression on SU WW.
Thanks Kelly for your input, it gave me my starting point.
