Default Blue vs Pink Bind It All

Okay, I'm having some success saving my money lately, and I thought of some bigger-ticket items I'd like to have. One of those is a Bind It All.

However, after looking at several on Ebay, I'm wondering what the difference is between the old blue and the new pink ones. From what I understand, the blue one can't cut acrylic. That's not an issue with me, since I don't work with acrylic. Are there any other differences?

Thanks for helping me out!

I've had both (long story). There aren't enough differences, in my opinion, to justify spending the extra money on the pink one. The blue one will cut through acrylic and chipboard just as well as the pink one. As with everything else, I'm sure others will have different opinions, but that's how I see it. Have fun with whatever you choose.

I took a class from a woman who was one of the inital designers of the BIA. We had both pink and blue in the class and she said the main difference in the pink one was that it had a paper guard and that it was not worth any additional cost. My blue BIA works just fine!

Thank you! I think I'm going to look into a good deal on a blue one.

Perhaps also check the cost of standard office wire comb binding machines. I ended up getting one for the same price but it will do a 12" cut in one pass and goes through the same thickness of cardstock.

Just make sure the spacing of the holes is right for the BIA wire combs, or get the standard combs from an office supplier - which I think, are ususally the same spacing anyway. I've also got clear plastic spirals from an office supplier.

KoffeeKat, which brand and model did you purchase? The last time I checked into this, the machines were well over $150.

I have a comb binding machine ($2 at a thrift store), but I really want to be able to do the wires instead. I'm pretty sure the holes aren't spaced right to use the BIA coils with it. Does anyone sell a sample pack of the BIA coils so that I could check?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Sophia, I got it from e-bay or overstocks but I'm in Australia. I got a tape measure and checked the sizing on the BIA holes when I was in a shop one time. (I always have tape measures in my pocket because we work in building.) Perhaps one of the girls with a BIA could tell you or you could you could google it? My binder is differently sized, which I didn't realise, hence giving you the heads up.

I won a BIA last year and just sold it to my sister as I never could really get it work easily for me. I hoping to get a Cinch for Christmas as it looks like it's a lot easier to use.
