Blackout feature on Cricut... ???

Just got a Cricut and everyone has been great about answering my beginner questions. I get what the shadow feature does, but what does everyone use the blackout feature for? I'm sure it's an easy answer (or two or three), but it's eluding this newbie! :confused:

For example if a circle tag had a blackout feature you could use it for simply cutting a circle - the hole would be "blacked out". So it is used to get a solid shape.

Another use for it is to back images that have cut-outs in them. For example: If you cut a Christmas ornament that has a bell cut out from the center of it, the blackout will back this so that something is showing through. It will be a solid piece behind your image that acts like a mat, but it doesn't show around the edges. It fits exactly behind the image. Hope that was clear. Have fun with your new Cricut.

[Hiding in My Craft Room]

On some images it does absolutley nothing! Like for instance if the first image is cut out in full only with the design cut out showing where the other layers go but nothing will "show" through just basically a silhouette image. This is kindof hard to explain in writing.

OK - now I know a few uses for the blackout. Many thanks one and all. and I sort of understand what you're saying, 'Hiding in My Craft Room'. I think the key word was silhouette.
