Default Advice needed for an album

I recently found this old leather album in a second hand store, I couldnt pass it up. I took off all the photo corners and plastic pages that were between the pages. I very much want to make some kind of cool album out of this with folds, pockets, tags etc. Ive made a mini album using graphic 45s curiosity shoppe and some steampunk papers not too long ago. I would like to do something different in this book but im having trouble figuring out what papers would go best with this style book. It is also pretty big so an 8x8 paper pad wont work here, so that crosses a lot of brands I like off my list. The pages are about 9x8 so there is a lot to cover and alter. Any suggestions and advice on paper, embellishments or just what to do with this book would be great.
Here are some pics.

Maybe check out Tim Holtz products? That album screams old world and distress to me.
