Default Portable Electronic Die Cutter Slice vs Cricut create

Hi All,

I have a Klic N Kut, so I don't need a cutter that can be hooked up to a computer. What I am looking for is somthing portable and something I can easily select and image or font. With the KNK and being able to select all true type fonts sometimes the choice is overwhelming and it takes me forever to pick one.

So I am looking at the Slice and the Cricut Create. the Slice SD cards seem to be less expensive but it seems that you get a smaller cutting surface. I have not been able to find much info on the slice.

Opinions anyone? Please help!

Tia,
Katie

Max cut size with a Slice is 4". The Create is 6" wide, but I think you can cut in portrait mode and get a 11.5" tall cut. Not sure about that.

I prefer the designs on the Slice cards to the designs on Cricut carts (and if you're looking to cut away from a computer, you are limited to designs cards or cartridges).

The Slice cuts one letter at a time. With a Create, you could type in your word(s), hit "cut" and do something else while the letters are cutting.

I love my Slice, but if I had to choose between a Slice and a Create, and didn't mind the price difference in machines or cards/carts, I'd probably have to go with the Create. (As far as that goes, I'd probably go a step further and get the Expression, but it's not as portable as the Create.)

I have 2 KNKs, an Expression, and a Slice (and some manual cutters). I'm sort of addicted to cutters and hate to choose. It sounds like you want to do a lot of words/titles, and the Create has the Slice beat there, IMO.

Do the slice designs have multiple layers. Like if you are cutting a Giraffe it would cut the silhouette and then the details like the spots. or are all of the slice designs silhouettes? It is hard to tell on the computer because all the images are black.

I am also going to post this on the slice thread. Maybe it will get more visibility there.

TIA,
Katie
