Question Paper Piercing Tool

I was at Michaels the other day and seen this paper piercing tool that u would use instead of a sewing machine. It was small and on a wheel of some sort. I did not get the name of it. Does anyone know what it is called and if they would recommend getting one. I have a sewing machine but it needs some repairs and this little tool looked real convient and much easier to use. any advise would be a great help. Thanks

Is this what you saw? Here it is at Overstock. I had one of these and didn't really like how it worked, so I returned it. But from the reviews, lots of people do like them for piercing paper.

And here is another one, by We R Memorykeepers, which also gets good reviews:

It all depends on what you want the look to be. Personally I find the cutter bee and the other tools make the holes too large for my liking. I prefer a finer hole so I use a dressmaker's wheel..the kind used to mark patterns for sewing.

I personally prefer to punch my own holes with a needle-like paper piercer but of course it is hard to keep your holes evenly spaced. Stampin' Up! is coming out with new piercing guides (patterns) that coordinate with some of the stamp sets so you can lay it over the stamped image and then punch the holes on the guide. More on my blog when they are available for purchase after June first at Cardmaking Ideas, Tutorials, Videos and Supplies. Can't wait to try these.

If you are trying to make holes for stitching, I think the Sew Easy is pretty cool since it gives you the right holes for different patterns in a pretty fast and easy way, especially if you want harder to pierce designs like curves and scallops. However, you have to buy each head for the different designs.

I keep meaning to play with it, but with my limited stitching that I do on project, I've been very happy with my SU paper piercer and mat pack. I like having a bunch of evenly spaced holes that I can decide on each project what spacing and pattern to use (and I use the tool for setting brads at the same spacing from each corner, etc.) It works for me, but if you were doing a long line or complex pattern, the Sew Easy would be faster.
