Default Pale Copics

Recently Copic released about 10-12 new very pale colors, didn't it? Does anyone have a list of the names and #s of those new markers, please? I'm trying to place an order and want to be sure to get it right.

Heya Dotty! Are you into the Copics? I have resisted all this time, but I am getting weak, LOL.

Inkerbelle.... I too tried to resist and as weak willed as I am to all crafting temptation I succumbed....and I would never go back... I absolutely love the copic markers.. there is no other marker that can blend and not leave lines like these. They are an investment, but the cool thing is that you can start with some of the lighter colors and keep layering them to get deeper colors.....trust me...you will wonder why you didn't know about them a lot sooner.

I have been looking at Copics for a long time and am leaning towards taking the plunge! What colors do you recommend to start with? Do you recommend buying a set of 12 or one or two at a time? There seems to be hundreds you can choose from and it is very confusing! Any help would be appreciated.

I recommend you wait until you can save enough to get at least 24 markers. I know they are available in sets of 36 and 72 also. You need at least a soft and medium colour in each family, R (red), YR (yellow red), Y, YG, G, BG, B, BV, V, RV. plus one set of three earth tones, I am partial to E33, 35, 37, two skin colours (depends on what ethnicity you are going for) plus a colourless blender and black. That adds up to more than 24. Be sure to learn the numbering system if you are going to pick them individually. The colour number tells you lots about the colour and what coordinates. I strongly recommend you spend time learning about Copics at ilikemarkers.com. Marianne has a TREASURE trove of info on there. Like a Copicpedia.

Marianne taught my copic certification class and she is the copic guru! I learned so much from her and I love my markers. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

I too love my copics. I have almost all of them now, at least all that I want. The new pale colors are so yummy. For me, they are the best markers, I love blending with them and learning new techniques with them. I've read so many blogs and tutorials and have followed Marianne's blog for about the last year. I've also taken a class at one of the local stores here.
Now I have a chance to get into a certification class taught by Marianne locally and just wonder if I should go ahead and spend the money for it. I don't need the markers, but just taking the class from her would be a great opportunity to learn even more.....

Sounds like a great opportunity; I'd love to take a class from her. Only, my observation is that she keeps primarily west of the Mississippi and that others mostly teach the classes on the eastern seaboard (I'm in NC). Not that there's anything wrong with other teachers, it's just the temptation of learning from the best, ya know?

As for the poster wondering where to start; start with light colors and color families (2-3 (preferrably 3) colors in the blues, pinks, yellows, greens, etc - whichever colors you think you'll use most). Also, if you're starting out, you may want to check out the blog: http://www.ilikemarkers.blogspot.com/

I recommend the light colors b/c they're generally much darker than you expect as a new user, at least that's been my experience and that of others I've heard talk about it.

That blog belongs to the Marianne mentioned; she works for Copic, and truly knows everything there is to know about Copics.

Was happy to see this email too! No pale 0000 colors, however. Just placed my order for some fill-in colors to qualify for the free ship!

Thanks everyone..I just receive my Twitter update and my favorite supplier for Copic just got them in (www.iCopic.com) I probably go there and get it since I already have an account set up and is more convenience.
