Default Now I get it...Gina K's luxury paper!!!!

I just bought Gina's luxury paper thinking I would just give it a try. Maybe, since I don't know how to color, this would made me an instant artist. Well, this paper is so luscious that it really does fulfill its name. I thought paper was paper so I just used Georgia Pacific from Walmart. Don't get me wrong, I will use the white cardstock for other things, but for coloring...OMG, this is the best. I am actually going to post my project now without embarrassment. At least, I hope!! LOL

I love, love GKD Pure luxury white and ivory for coloring and stamping. I have a few acrylic sets that don't stamp very well even after conditioning it several times, but I get a good impression every time with GKD papers. And that 120 lb weight is perfect when I make CAS cards with lots of white background. I let my girls use my Walmart papers now.

Is Gina's paper made for copics? Is it thick and does it soak the ink up or is it smooth and easy to color....or do I need to get some and find out for myself...lol ..Tx.

I love Gina's cardstock for Copic's it is the only thing that I use for coloring. It also works great with Prisma pencils and Gamsol. I also love the way I get a smooth clear image when stamping Thomas Kinkade stamps, with other paper I don't get a clear clean image. I recommend buying I don't think you will be disappointed.

Gina's paper is GREAT for coloring with Copics!! It blends the colors beautifuly!! She has 120# designed for card base and I can't remember the weight but a lighter weight also designed for layering. I don't have any of the lighter weight yet but I can't wait to try it!!

I've even taken a Copic class but I remain ::sigh:: blending-challenged.......lol.........so I need all the help I can get and maybe this paper is just the ticket..........which weight should I get for coloring with Copic? I don't make cards so I don't need anything for card bases........just whatever weight is good for stamping and coloring images.

Thanks !!!!!!!

120 lb would be the card itself and 80 lb for coloring?

You can use it however you want. I color on the 120lb because I cut and emboss with nestabilities. When you emboss 120lb cardstock, you get dramatic results with both nesties and the cuttlebug.

You can color on the 120lb and the color will not bleed through on our white. I love the 80lb for colored pencils and OMS. Because our card stock is smoother than most others with the exception of Stampin' Up, your pencils will blend much more smoothly.

Our 120lb card stock is the heaviest on the paper crafting market. I have all the other brands and our 120 feels much heavier and a million times smoother which makes for a beautiful card base.

But keep in mind that 110 and 120 lb card stock will ruin your punches over time. Many have complained that their punches have broken using the heavier card stocks available from many of the companies discussed here at SCS.

The 80lb card stock will NOT break your punches and will give you super clean edges for your punched pieces and your more delicate nestabilities cuts like the new fancy tags and pendant dies.

I have a funny Gina K paper story. I recently received a lovely card from a fellow stamper. The front was colored with copics.

When I opened it I noticed that in the inside, the copics had bled through. My friend put a note there with an arrow to the bleeding "card not made with Gina K 120 lb. Luxury cardstock"!

What a hoot.

The Gina K cardstock is exactly as Gina describes it, in comparison to others. And, sadly, I don't own the company!

So will someone please clarify? If I don't care about the "bleeding" (because I layer) can I use the 80lb. for both Copics and Prisma's/OMS? TIA!

Yes! I haven't used the 80# personally (just re-read Gina's post to clarify)....but I absolutely LOVE the 120# for coloring with copics/markers and for one layer cards...WONDERFUL stuff (did I mention that I LOVE it?!! )

And that reminds me that I need to refresh my supply

My first order for the paper was placed on Tuesday...I am in Nevada...it was in my hands on Wednesday all the way from Wisconsin...Priority box..but how did she do that...Gina herself packaged and shipped my order....must have been the magic touch. I am still in awe of the ONE DAY delivery...Oh..and the paper is to die for. The Pumpkin Spice is a gorgeous color and the quality is like none I have EVER seen. More packages of this paper in other colors are on my list. Oh..and the little pieces of candy were a nice bonus....lol
blessings.

Okay . . . I've been on the fence as I am a HUGE PTI fan--love their colors and weight--and I'm an SU! Hobby Demo . . . but just recently started playing with Copics. I just placed an order for GK paper. My checkbook fears I will love it! I have totally turned into what I refer to as a "paper snob" since I discovered PTI and SU!

You will not be sorry...the quality is awesome...I cant wait to play with my pumpkin spice...the color is so yummy....wont be able to play until I get done with the revamping of my stamp room...hubby is putting 20 more of the cubes together for me. I am going to be stopping on my way home to pick up a few more...I think when I am done I will have over 40 cubes in my room...They are 50% off at Michaels this week...oh my goodness what caused me to go that far off topic...? I must just be excited. Hugs ladies.

I LOVE the 120# pure luxury paper too!! It is equally wonderful for coloring with Copics or Prismacolor pencils and I think is the best paper out there. And I am convinced that you use a lot less ink out of your Copics using Gina K's paper! And that is a huge bonus to me, besides the fact the paper is so smooth, but ink dries very quickly and you really do get a gorgeous impression. I won't use anything else for my coloring!

I'm fast depleting my supply of 110#PTI, and because I've been paying attention to what you're saying here, decided to order the Gina K Pure Luxury in both 120 and 80 wt. Been quite happy with my PTI for Copics, but it will be fun to try this for a change. Imagine I'll love it too!

Due to this thread, I have ordered the Pure Luxury 120 wt.; can't wait to get it and try it! I'm down to 1/2 of one sheet of good quality white CS. The last time I ordered the assortment package from SU, the white and ivory were very light weight (great for layering, but not great support for card bases) and the remainder of the package was the regular 80# cardstock. Anyone know why the different colors were different weights?

The smoother the texture, the more dense and tightly woven the card stock. So although they both may weight the same, the Ultra Smooth White is smoother and tighter so it feels more flimsy while the colors are not as smooth and tight so they feel thicker and more rigid.

That's why we chose 120lb for our base weight card stock in white. It's so super smooth- (really, you won't believe it until you feel it,) that the extra weight is needed to be thick and rigid. It is the heaviest card stock available in the paper crafting market. We tested 130 lb. as well but you can not score it and get a crisp line because it's too thick. 120lb was the max that worked for cards.

We have lots of giggle with our customers who come in to our store and say, no, I use another brand of very heavy white. I don't need any. So, we say, okay, but you have to touch ours- you don't have to buy it, just feel it. The looks on their faces as they feel it is priceless and every single person who has touched it has said that they would have never believed that there is such a vast difference. They always get it.

Well, I am so happy that I started this thread. I actually can color. I'm not ready for Copic Markers yet, but with my Prismacolors & Gamsol I'm an artist. j/k

I moved to Texas from Wisconsin and believe me, us Wisconsinities are work definitely at a faster pace than Texans (sorry Texans). Don't you just love the speed of Gina?

Seriously, Gina, you really don't need to sell your product. I'm telling you JUST TRY IT and you'll never go back.

I LOVEYOUMOSTEST.

Well, I got mine today (super fast) and it goes into the same category as a stamp-a-ma-jig: why did I wait so long to buy it?!?! And I threw in some of the blending stumps--so much better than the ones from HL!!

Well, I have to second the stamp-a-ma-jig too! Even when I've used clear stamps I can't stamp a greeting straight and if it's a card I've worked on for a long time, I love knowing that the greeting will be perfectly straight!

OK...I have samples of GinaK white in both weights but I really want to see the ivory...the actual color...in other words I'd really like to have just one little piece to hold in my hands. Can anyone send me a scrap? Pretty please?
