Default Is this normal for a black EP?

After pouring my Whispers Black Sparkle EP on a Halloween card, it left a black residue on the cardstock. I have tried using a brush to remove the fine powder but it just made the card more *dirty* I tried using a white eraser too. The closest I could describe it is.. it's like fireplace soot/ash... What should I do to get rid of the black? help!

The best way I know is to use a small dry clean paintbrush and do each little bit seperately. Next time before you emboss you can rub a dryer sheet across your card and it will help eliminate the static that causes this to happen. Also there is a thing called an embossing buddy or something like that, that you can buy and rub over your card before embossing, but I've heard the dryer sheet works as well.

I have found for me personally what actually works best is to use a black pigment ink like Brilliance Grahpite Black, then emboss with clear embossing powder. I am not a big fan of black embossing powder because I'm such a messy stamper. I find using black ink and clear embossing powder (I use one called "detail clear") gives a little crisper look and if I spill powder it's much less noticable.

I hope this helps!

Default SO glad....

I had four cards, just four, that I wanted to emboss with black and I had the EXACT same problem. I thought it was maybe the brand, and went out and bought a different one. Nope! Same problem. I'm going to use cjbapp's suggestion with the black pigment ink. Thanks so much for proving I'm not crazy!

funny, I never have a problem using black EP. In fact I love to use it an a set of stamps that I have that are stained glass. makes the lines look just like lead.

Thank you Debbie! I'll try to rub the card before stamping. I have had better luck with the plain black ep rather than the ep with glitters. I'll try again.
