I have to say the MS score tool has come in very handy for me this Christmas season. I just made 120 small gifts that needed 2 scores at 1/8 increments. I know it would have worked with my ScorPal, but it was so much easier with the MS not having to being careful to line up the edges. I found it worked very well with cardstock, but I had to be very careful with paper. And I only had 2 ocassions of the tool jumping over the groove and that was because I turned my head to look at TV while scoring. I love my ScorPal and am very happy I bought it, and the MS scoring tool is great also. I will put both to good use.

I bought Miss Marthas score buddy....yep...she was certainly thinking when she made the little compartment for the score tool and for the angle thingy for envelopes....I am making envelopes like mad! I love this tool.

BUT
I'm not giving up my score pal either......because I love it too
just wish it had the measurements on the sides ....and more grooves.....

...stand back or I might score U...........lol

hugs

you have to flip it so it is printed side down, there is a ridge you have to line up so it locks in tight, and it is a tight fit!

I've got mine just yesterday (this thing is sold out all the time). I used it earlier and I must say..I like the fact that I now have more scorelines. I am not too happy about the scor tool itself...it feels weird in your hand...kind of sharp, and yes, the scor lines are pretty crisp. I do not regret buying it BUT I LOVE my Scor-Pal and will continue using it too!! The envelope triangle is pretty cool and yes, you can make envelopes in no time flat. The compartment for the scoring tool is pretty nice.. plus it has the measurements for all kind of boxes right there at your fingertip...no more searching for that scrap piece of paper that you scribbled down the measurements for a 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6 etc. box ...you'll have it right there at the top of the score board inside the lid of the scor tool compartment. Way to go Martha!!!

Martha has out done herself with this new toy!

I'm shocked though that she's selling this item at such a reasonable price. In general, I have always found that Martha tends to price her product lines on the high end of things. I guess her people didn't do a good job of market research on this item. $12 (using a coupon) compared to the Scor-Pal going for $40 or so and it doesn't offer the convenience of having all those score lines like Martha's score board does. I'm a happy camper now that I own my cheap MS score board!

I know there are a lot of SP fans out there but personally, I feel like I'm a math flunky everytime I try to use it. Guess my poor little SP will be collecting lots of dust now that I don't have to feel like a retard when I want to score something other than a greeting card.

the math thing is zactly why i didnt use the SP very often. other than that it is an awesome tool too. i sold it to a friends sister, who always wanted one, She loves the SP and doesnt want the MS version. so it worked out for both of us and we are happy scorers

I got my MS score board about 3 weeks ago and have used the heck out of it making all sorts of things for an upcoming craft sale. I really like it alot! I've had no real problems with it, I do think the grooves could be a bit deeper though..... I was always put off by the cost of a Score Pal, glad to have gotten mine for a mere $12.00 at Michaels!

I was wondering does the Score-Pal mat fit on the Martha Stewart Scoreboard?

I echo the posts that say to use a bone folder. I have a short, pointed one that makes gorgeous score lines on light paper and cardstock. It fits right in the little compartment too. LOVE the MS scoreboard!

I bought an MS scoring board and I absolutely love it. The scoring tool doesn't bother me at all. And it has those grooves at the top to place the tool in first and then zippppppp....you got score lines. I'm right-handed and it doesn't bother me to have the ledge on the left hand side. Matter of fact, it makes it easier to brace when necessary.

I was going to get a Scor-Pal but have decided not to do so now. I actually like the nice light color, the storing compartment for the scoring tool and the envelope thing (haven't tried that yet). The neatest thing is that I can also use my bone folder and it works perfectly as well.

I just don't mind that Martha Stewart is a conglomerate. But since all her papercraft items are made by EK Success, unless she has purchased that entire company, I wouldn't think they'd make a very shoddy product. I happen to like a lot of Martha's new stuff lately. And her prices are quite comparable to others as well.

So for me, the scoring board's price was definitely a big seller and then to have it work so wonderfully was great for me.

I got it too and love it. You just can't beat the price with a 40% coupon . I also have the scor pal but find I reach for the MS scor tool now all the time.

I purchased the ms scoring board about a month ago---I'd been saving my pennies for a scor-it--but when I saw that the ms board was less than 1/2 the cost of the scor-it and had more scoring grooves and an envelope scoring template, I purchased it. I must say that I've been pleased with it. I had over 100 Christmas cards to make and send this year and I am always having problems with envelopes. With the ms score board I was able to make envelopes to fit my odd sized cards without any difficulty. I was used to scoring the folds of my cards with my paper trimmer using a scoring blade, but I found that I was much more accurate when I used the ms score board.
I would recommend this product.

Got it! Love it!

For those looking for it at Michaels, I saw it one week, only one on shelf, but was buying other things. Went back a few days later, none, few more days later, none, again went shopping for other things, and one on the shelf, but I forgot my wallet, was raining buckets, and so waited before I went back and gone. Finally got a coupon, 40% went again, none, drove to another Michael's and again, one on the shelf, and I grabbed it up! so keep looking, as it seems they put them out one at a time! lol

I've never used a scor board. I was thinking of getting one, I seen the scor pal has a healing mat that you can place on top of it and thought that was like the coolest thing ever. But do I really need it. I do make lots of cards and sometimes my own envelopes. But would you consider it a necessity?

Necessity? No, definitely not! However, it is a wonderful convenience to have a scoring board. No more off-kilter folds when I make a card base and definitely no roughness on the fold line. From that standpoint I'm not wasting large pieces of card stock. Score Pal is still my favorite, though I have the MS score board, too.

Might I suggest that you hold off making a decision until you can get a peek at the the new product from Score Pal? It was introduced at CHA last month and it is a smaller version of their big board; I think they called it the Score Buddy or something like that. It might be just what you are looking for.

From the standpoint of quality and neatness, for me it has proved to be a necessity, I wonder why I worked so hard without one. I greatly improves and expands your creativity. There is no better way, IMHO, to get perfectly spaced and straight score lines than with one of the score boards, there are certain shape cards that simply would be too time consuming to create without the board, I would not do without it.

I have both the Scor-Pal and th MS scoring Board. I bought the MS one recently because making box lids is so much easier with it. I love the fact that it has the arrow to line up with to make the lids only 1/16 larger than your box. I have been waiting five months for them to be in stock around here again. I had to play with it as soon as I got home that day. Loving it!

I find a steady hand prevents the tool from jumping and eventually you get very good at keeping it steady.

When using the tools with any DSP it is a must you apply pressure very lightly from start to finish which helps prevent any tearing of the paper.

My Michaels has a bunch of the scoreboards in this week. They have a stand alone cardboard display that held many, many. ALso all the new MarthaStewart punches are in too. Love the new border/corner punches.

I love mine but I let DH's daughter use it and no matter how many times I showed her how to use it, she didn't use the tip of the scoring tool and when I put it away I noticed that the blade is no longer at a straight tip.

I actually liked that the tool was thinner than my bone folder as it fit in the grove better. Oh well, I can use my bone folder, but I really liked the tool better. I might try the bone folder that came in my Circuit tool set - I think it's thin.

Normally, I don't share my tools for this precise reason, but she wanted to help make her college grad invitations and I didn't want to do all the work alone. Oh, well another lesson learned for me.
