Default New ink product

Recently I watched a Youtube video with contadinak.wordpress.com using a new Clearsnaps acrylic pigment ink on a mixed media project card. The colors were outstanding and gorgeous and used with spritzes and water etc. Its a brand new product so if there's any gal out there thats played with it before I would love to hear what you think of it. Its 4.69 to 5.99 a bottle and if you had lots of little bottles I can see where getting a rainbow of colors could be pricey. Just wondering if it is worth the investment...or is that a stupid question when you want something??? LOL.

Sorry, I've not seen them but why not pace yourself by getting a couple of colours to play with and see how you like them and then add more if they live up to your expectations?

Good thought on the colour mixing!

I did have a peek at the video (at least I assume it was this one since the mixed media description fits) and it's not that they're being used as mists, they're being used with mists (she's using the Smooch spritzes). The acrylic ink is called Izink and looks pretty gloopy to me, as you might expect from a pigment ink, I guess, and is in a bottle with a dropper mechanism.

Thinking about your question though, there would be differences between an acrylic and watercolour mist - if it's acrylic-based it will be water resistant once dry so you should be able to spritz or splatter with an acrylic mist and leave it to dry then add a water-based medium on top and the acrylic drops should resist and keep their colour. I guess it's academic though as the Izink under discussion is not a mist (maybe you could mix it in a mister bottle to make one though?).

There are several other vids on YouTube that feature Izink - quite a few in French which makes me wonder if it's a product Clearsnap have picked up for distribution (the French videos seem to be older ones)

From that video it didn't do anything that I wouldn't expect from a normal acrylic paint that you can pick up quite a bit cheaper. I'm intrigued to know its special properties.

I'm afraid Clearsnap is no real help, all they say on the web site (here) is

New, acrylic based pigment ink!

IZINK is acid free and used mostly for scrapbooking and hobby craft projects.

Ink is opaque and will not produce a patina effect.
Like you Kristen, I thought it looked a lot like a pearlised acrylic paint the way she uses it.

Was cruising Youtube yesterday and got intrigued by polymer clay and drawn into this video and at about 11:30 in she mixes her acrylic paints to get her shimmer.

Martha Stewart's crafters Clay Vs. polymer clay charms - YouTube

I know I picked up a set of Craftsmart for relatively cheap and would only need to add the pearl/metallic paints to get the effects for paper/canvas.
