New Duck Brand Adhesive - Love it or Hate it?
I have been using Duck Brand adhesive for years. I have tried a lot of other brands but this one is my fave. When I went to Joanns to stock up on more, I noticed that they had a "new and improved" version. I couldn't imagine what they could improve on it, but I decided to try it. I HATE this new tape runner! I don't like that it puts down tiny pieces of tape instead of adhesive. If I go off the edge with the old version, I can just rub it off. With these little tape pieces, I have to trim. So annoying. And it doesn't roll very well either. I went back to the store and snatched up the last 3 old packs they had but I don't know what I'm going to do when that's gone.
Has anyone else tried the new kind? Do you love it or hate it?

Oh no ... perhaps that is why I haven't been able to find any at my usual spots. I might have to look again soon (and pack them for my move later this month) instead of taking the chance of running out. I love the continuous tape not tabs of adhesive.
Have you tried their foam mounting tape? I bought a roll (the only one on the hook) "just because" but it is packed. Wish I recalled where and the price but my brain is overloaded with information about moving.
Thanks for the heads up - I will be hoarding my "old" rolls for the "very special" projects and will have to use other adhesives (also hoarded ... it's what I do). I did recently try tan Adtech runner (inexpensive plus refillable - found at WalMart) and liked it. I'll be closer to WalMart when we move so it might become my substitute for Duck.

Walmart itself has the duck brand adhesive in red container packaged 4 to a box for around $10...maybe a bit less. It is in the OFFICE section, near the paperclips/staples.
Also...as posted on another thread...WALGREENS has scotch double stick tape for $1.50 for 2 rolls of 500 inches...(you need a dispenser for these)...and they have Glue dots permanent the ones that are in a blue case...for $1.09 for a 200 dot dispenser. The repositionable is NOT on sale...
You may have to get Walgreens to do a price check for these...
Have a great week...hope this helps!

I have also read from others about WalMart having Duck Brand but my local Wal Mart does not carry it. And I don't have a Walgreens within 100 miles of where I live. But thanks for the info.

Eww-the new tape...not my fave anymore but the first package I got was defective and really hard to roll. The second package was much easier to use. There was a learning curve but I think I finally got the hang of it. In Texas, with the heat and humidity, that and CM are about the only things that really stick besides glue. Funny, I went back to the store and bought all they had of the old too!

I also hate the little cap for the end of the new tape runner. I keep losing track of it.

I completely agree!! The original Duck adhesive was my absolute favorite. Perfect amount of adhesive and you could rub off any that went off of the edge. The "new & improved" version is TERRIBLE, in my opinion. I also made a trip to Joann's and stocked up on all of the older version Duck adhesive. I was able to get 12 rolls. . .not nearly enough but will last me a little while at least.

I just went to their website and posted my comment on their "contact us" page to let them know how much I liked the old version and how much I hate the new one. Maybe if enough people complain they will bring the old one back.

Wow, thanks for the heads up about a change in their product. I use the red runners all the time...I better plan trips to Walmart and Joann's and stock up.

I used to be addicted to the tombow but now I cannot stand it. It never sticks anymore and I have to use twice as much. I will be looking for a new brand also.

I used the duck for a long time and then I found it was getting harder to find. I can't tell you how much I loved it, I never had to tried to remove the little bits that got off the the edge like with the white tape or CM, but since it was getting hard to find I switched to Ad tech and found it was just as nice as duck, got at Walmart two refills for $2.27 but now they changed it to the little dots two and I hate those. I will go to the duck site and complain too.
Hope it helps and they bring the other one back.

Susan, do you have a link of their website where you comment? I would leave one, too.
I just don't like any other like I do the original Duck! Thanks...

Here is the link to the comment page at the Duck Brand site if you want to let them know how you feel about their products. Just scroll down until you see the area to fill in and submit.

I'll be letting them know about my distaste for the changes. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Duck has always been my choice for adhesive. I used to purchase it at Joanns, but then I moved away and couldn't find it. Now, each time I go to a city with a Joanns, I stock up. Seriously. I have about four four packs of the old kind. My mom knows about my dilemma and she always sends me some. This last time, she sent me this new version. Not a fan. I'll be getting an ATG as soon as my supply runs out.

Thanks for the link! I just left a comment begging them to bring the original adhesive back! I haven't been able to find it locally where I live in VA for over a year. Used to buy the multi-pack of 4 all the time and really miss it. It worked well and was economical to use. Am crossing my fingers that they bring it back!

I got an email back regarding the comments I left. It said...
Thank you for e-mailing Henkel Corporation. We appreciate your interest in our products.
We are sorry you do not like the changes to our Easy Stick Adhesive Rollers. We have passed your comments on to the appropriate Marketing Manager.
Right. I bet it goes to the marketing manager's secretary who puts it in the trash. But at least I had my say.

Oh, boy, am I with you on this! I'm a hoarder, too, and am down to my last 4 rolls of the old version. My WalMart doesn't carry the Duck scrapbook adhesive, but does carry other Duck products. JoAnn's is hit or miss, but I found 3 of the new and NOT improved packages last week, bought them with glee---and am VERY much not impressed. There was nothing wrong with the 'old' product. What a shame.

I got 7 packages today at Rite Aid (one was marked $3.99, the sticker on the shelf said $4.19 and the other rolls on the hook said $4.29). I wanted all 7 but have to balance needs with budget so I put 4 in the basket and other stuff I needed.
I explained the varied pricing to the cashier so she scanned one in and said it won;t matter because they are clearance for .....
$1.07 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
I quickly gasped out to please hold my order while I got the rest of the packages so I did get all 7 (each package looked the same and I opened one and it is the one we all love!).
I almost did the happy dance walking to my car but was afriad I'd end up tripping in a pothole!

Wow TeeGeeDee! What a deal! I didn't know Rite Aid sold this stuff. I have one of those stores near me but I have never shopped there before. Guess where I'm headed tomorrow? Thanks for letting us know.

After I posted I read the back of the packaging and it said "also available in repositionable" ... could it be possible the "new" dotted type is not replacing the perm. type we love (hopefully optimistic). I think the only replies received were the "automatic" type.
Hope you find them (and on clearance, which might vary by store). I'd grab whatever is on the hook and ask the cashier to scan the price and leave some at the register if your budget dictates (hate those dictating budgets).
Happy Crafting!
