Default Nestabilities, Cuttlebug emboss & Big Shot?

Does someone know where I can get a tutorial on how to use Nestablilities with my big shot? Or can someone tell me what do I sandwich it with to get the cut and emboss?

I also need to know this info on my cuttlebug embossing folders?

Please help!
Thank You!

I have a Big Shot with a Multi Purpose Platform - and have CB embossing folders and Nestabilities so I can help.

FOR CB EMBOSSING FOLDERS - from the bottom up:

Have the MPP open at Tab 1
Clear cutting pad
CB Embossing Folder with cardstock/paper sandwiched inside
Second clear cutting pad
Roll through the machine

NESTABILITIES CUTTING - from bottom up:

MPP open at Tab 1
5 pieces of thin cardstock as shims
Clear cutting pad
Nestie die ridge side up
Cardstock/paper
Second clear pad
Roll through the machine

NESTABILITIES EMBOSSING - from the bottom up:

MPP open at Tab 1
5 pieces of thin cardstock as shims
Clear cutting pad
Nestie die ridge side up
Cardstock/paper
Spellbinders tan embossing pad
Clear cutting pad (a clean one with no cut marks)
Roll through the machine

Most 'sandwich' recipes for the Big Shot actually recommend that the MPP be used at Tab 2 when using the Nesties. But I found that left a faint embossing mark which I didn't want if I just wanted to cut a shape only. So I experimented with CS shims to get the right thickness to cut the shape but to leave no marks.

The recipe I gave above works perfectly for me - you'll need to experiment with your particular machine - I'd suggest adding one piece of CS shim at a time until you get perfect results.

I now always use a clean cutting pad on the top of my sandwich stack when embossing with my Nesties 'cos once the cutting marks transferred to my CS when I used an old beat up cutting pad!

If I want to cut and then emboss a Nestie shape, I leave the cut piece in the die, just remove the excess and then follow the recipe for embossing.

Hope that helped - have fun! The CB embossing folders and Nesties are wonderful!

I bought the small white plates instead of the shims.

I have the Big Shot - what is the MPP - is it the one that comes with the BS or do I need to get something else?

Yes it's the one that comes with the BS. It's a pretty thick white pad.

Do you have the Blue and Black Big Shot with the two acrylic mats and one thick white mat .... or the newer Black and Pink BS with the tabbed mats?

Ok HotPinkPixie,

here is how to use your machine with Spellbinders Nestabilities as well as all the Spellbinders dies....I demonstrate this combination all over the US at consumer shows with my black and blue big shot machine... it works perfectly....

You will need the Spellbinders White Spacer plate and Tan Embossing Mat

Cutting Sandwich:
1. Place the Big Shots thick white mat down first
2. Place ONE Spellbinders White Spacer plate onto the thick white mat.
3. Place Spellbinders die rough side up ( the side with the ridges) onto the
Spellbinders white spacer plate.
4. Place paper over the die
5. Place the TWO Big Shot Acrylic mats over the paper and roll thru the
Big Shot machine.

Embossing sandwich:
1. While leaving the die in place, remove the Spellbinders white Spacer plate.
2. Place the Spellbinders tan embossing mat over the die with paper still in
die.
3. Place 3 pieces of cardstock over the tan embossing mat to act as a shim
4. Place the TWO Big Shot Acrylic mats over the tan embossing mat and paper shim and roll the Big Shot machine.
5. Turn die over and use like a stencil with Inks or markers for added detail.

As far as embossing cuttle bug folders... I can tell you how to do it in a Wizard but do not know the combination for the big shot .

Hi Molly,

It is soooo cool to emboss the CB folders in the Wizard because there is more pressure.... here is your sandwich....

Spellbinders Thick White Mat
Cuttlebug folder with paper in it
Second Spellbinders Thick White Mat

Incidently..... the cuttlebug dies and the sizzlet dies are the same thickness as the cuttlebug embossing folders so the sandwich combination is the same as the CB embossing folders.... all you need to use is the two Spellbinders thick white mats to use all these dies.

Run thru the Wizard and WOW POW.... the embossing rocks every time.
Remember .... no matter what you try to emboss in the Wizard, the pressure of what you are embossing may feel different.

What I mean is .... you may feel more pressure from the CB folder being embossed. The sandwich may feel tighter.... Dont be afraid......of the pressure difference.... the Wizard machine is designed to be "stressed". I did this on purpose so everyone would have more options on what they can emboss..... this is one reason our white mats are so thick.... so you all have FLEXABILITY> to emboss what you want without breaking your mats in pieces.

Hugs & Smiles

Stacey, thank you! This is so good to know that it's as simple as that! I do have a Big Shot, but I love my Wizard. I think many of us have not yet realized just how versatile our Wizards can be!

Ok i got the nesties and have tried them. you dont need any rubber or foam mats. just use the multi purpose platform and your two acrylic plates and it works great !

Default Big Shot models

Is the Black and Pink Big Shot different than the Black and Blue model? I want to know if you use different sandwiches. I have the Black and Pink model.
